Do not spray anything directly on the screen. The biggest danger is liquid dripping into the bottom of the screen and shorting it out. Also do not press too hard on the screen, or flex/twist the display panel too much. Beyind that, you can try a dry microfiber cloth first. If that doesn't work, spray a small amount of window cleaner on the cloth, make sure the cloth will not drip, then use that.

Do NOT use window cleaner!! - far too many contain ammonia which can really do damage to exposed LCD panel coatings. I always advise using alcohol-free spectacle cleaner and a soft microfibre cloth and/or a cloth specific to cleaning spectacles. If the screen is really dirty/fingerprinted, a couple of drops of washing up liquid mixed with a litre of warm (not hot!) water can be used first - clean with a tightly wrung out microfibre and finish off with the spectacle/lens cleaner.

Yes, do not use ammonia based cleaners, they can cause yellowing over time and remove the antireflective coating. I should have mentioned, but I have been using ammonia free window cleaner, as it is also better for my tinted car windows. Usually I just use a tiny bit of water and a microfiber cloth. Also, if the screen is dirty, try to wipe the dirt gently off. Or to explain that better, picture dirt as sand. You don't want to drag the sand around the screen as it will scratch it. Well, even small dirt can act like sand over time. So you want to do a first pass with a cloth, wipeing while lifting, like a rolling action. Depends on the dirt.

Thanks for pointing that out steviejones133

For stubborn fingerprints and other unsightly blemishes, start with an acid-based wax and grease remover. Follow that with a soapy water bath, then scuff all surfaces thoroughly with a 3M Scotch-Bright pad. Use an etching primer, 2 coats of epoxy-based color coat and 2 coats of clear. ;)

Where's the step where you bung it in the dishwasher on an intensive cycle? ;)

I picked up one of these...

    Intelligent Accessories Catalog | ShaggyMax

It works awesome and I place it between the keyboard and the screen when I transport the laptop. I use it to wipe the whole system down when need be.

If your just looking for an easy fix pretty much any micro fiber should work well, and for stubborn smears you can just get it a little damp just don't use a soaking wet cloth.

I've used they Laptop Swiper with my MBP and MBPr for years and they're great and don't break down like other microfiber cloths I've used in the past. I ordered the 18.4 for my Alienware 18 last week and fits nicely.
