    Hey folks,

I had a Samsung 2tb SSD that failed recently, so I'm currently running off of the m.2 drive that comes with the Alienware 17, but it's only like 128gb. I have an old Crucial 500gb drive that I'd like to use, so I'm wondering if I can clone the m.2 onto the Crucial - I've tried using Macrium but I keep getting a "no boot filename received" message under legacy, and it doesn't seem to find it under UEFI (but I'm not familiar with setting up a UEFI boot so I may be doing it wrong).

Any advice would be helpful as I only see posts cloning SSD to m.2 and not the other way around.

    Thank you.

Make sure the Crucial 500GB SSD drive is compatible with your Alienware 17. I don't know why you receive the no boot filename received error and did not use Macrium before, so I can't comment. But, i cloned a smaller M.2 SSD to a larger SSD drive with a success via AOMEI Backupper, here are the steps:
    1. Connect the 500GB Crucial SSD drive with your computer. Install and run the program, choose Clone -> Disk Clone.
    2. Select the original small M.2 SSD as source disk, and hit Next.
    3. Choose the 500GB Crucial SSD as target disk to save all the data from M.2 SSD. Then press Next. Note: The destination disk will be override after the operation, please backup important data on it first.
    4. At the Operation Summary window, tick Align partition to optimize for SSD. Then click Start Clone.
After you the cloning finished, shut down your laptop, take out the small M.2 SSD and put in the 500GB Crucial SSD drive.
    Hope it helps you.
