Ok well I am trying to figure out why CoD4 for my m15x laggs on anything but the lowest rez. I need anyone who plays CoD4 on the m15x to tell me some details about how they have the game configured.
1. what gpu card do you have?
2. what is the maximum settings in CoD4 you can set without experiencing lag. In multiplayer and single.
3. What drivers do you use?
screenshot of your graphics settings optional but helpful![]()

I'm just replying because I have an idea for you that might work
My Studio xps 1340 has hybrid SLI and I thought I could play cod4 at medium/high but it lagged horibbly. Then I saw in the settings that SLI/DUAL video cards was not on. So when I turned it on, Cod4 worked much better at medium settings.
So I don't really know about the m15x but if you have sli just make sure it's enabled in the cod4 settings. -
I did try switching the settings to the "two cards" option but same amount of lag as always.
-
i have COD4 on my m15x. specs in sig. i can run it absolutely maxed out at native resolution in SP without any lag.
-
I'm using a base m15x with the video card upped to the 9800gt and 4GB of memory.
I can play buttery smooth set like this:
Aniso is maxed too.
Are you sure you're not in intel graphics mode? Also, try the stealth button to make sure you're not making the same mistake I have multiple times. Games play like poo in Stealth mode. -
Sounds like a driver issue? What version are you using?
-
Sounds like a driver issue as Kevin said, since you've checked that you arent running with onboard graphics.. you should be maxing it with ease
-
Well I just switched to integrated to make sure. Before Device manager said 9800 gt and now after I switched It says express chipset blah blah blah so I was definitely playing on the card. I also checked stealth mode and it was definitely off.
Im currently using the 180.42 drivers. -
I'm running the Vista x64 176.37 that AW shipped my notebook with two months ago. I haven't bothered to explore updates or home brew options yet since every game I've installed has already exceeded my expectations. That said, I've yet to install Crysis.
Anyway, by the driver version you mentioned it's safe to assume you're an x32 OS, yes? I'm afraid I don't know the popular version for you 32-bitters without trolling through here. -
Yeah 64bit would probably make difference. *sigh* anyone running 32bit vista that plays CoD4? If so what are your max settings you can play at without lag? And what drivers?
-
Try the official 179.48 from nvidia.com
-
try using the performance 185.20 drivers from laptopvideo2go.com. The 32 bit shouldn't make much of a difference in performance except for the fact that your full 4 gigs of ram aren't being used
-
No thanks! If I ever saw a a good way to slow fry a video card that would it. I blame AW for not providing a way to control anything in the way your computer is cooled.
PS: anyone know why when I go to My computer -> system properties and look at my amount of RAM it says 4 gigs even though directly under that it clearly says system type: 32bit operating system? I thought when I had a 32bit OS it cant see the 4gb of RAM. . . -
there was a vista patch to make it read 4 gigs but not use it to cover up the problem lol
that link is right to -
I am running the 185.20 drivers and I am starting to think Its the game because it will lag the same amount on 1440 x 900 as well as the lowest resolution.
Any suggestions besides update CoD4? -
the obvious - stealth mode, IGP, performance settings.
-
can u elaborate a little on the igp and performance settings? I have made sure stealth mode is not on and that im not on integrated.
