i figured it out you have to enable vsync and it will stop the stuttering. and sorry for posting back to back.

Did you enable vsync in the game or in the nvidia control panel? I got the same issue in COD4 and I thought it was a quad core problem...Would you please play COD4 with vsync enabled for a longer time, maybe a couple of hours to check if the stuttering will come back again? Thanks!

    Hi Dslade,
The micro stuttering will always be present. If you lower your resolution, you'll notice it less. You may want to try enabling triple buffering in your control panel. Also, there is an SLI option in COD4. However, I've noticed that the game runs better with it off.

    Thanks,
    Gabe

Try disabling the integrated GPU in your bios . Under the graphics options in the bios set it to disabled/disabled and see if that helps. This will make only your discrete graphics cards run.

The drop in framerate doesn't seem normal. However, I hardly monitor my framerates.

Other people have reported this with COD4 i believe . What sets of drivers have you tried btw ? just dell stuff or ones like 190.38 ?. Also are you overclocking your CPU at all ?.

i have not used the 190.xx i could not get them to work with the 9400m. i understand a micro second pause, but this is a massive drop to 1 and it goes back up to 120 fps. its like a side show for 2 seconds then its all smooth again. but whats weird is i turn off sli and it stops the massive drop in fps. that is something i do not understand

Try using a different SLI rendering technique.

You can change this in the nvidia control panel.

So you downloaded the 190.38s from Laptopvideo2go.com and downloaded the modded inf next to it , dumped the inf in the extracted folder of the drivers overwriting the stock one and proceeded with the install ?.

It's obviously a software issue if the stuttering goes away with sli disabled.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Hopefully a newer or more optimized driver will come along and fix some of these issues (sleep, etc).

another thing that i notice was when it happens the sound of the videos cards stops when it drops to 1 fps like the cards just stop responding then they pick back up again. i know when the cards are in sli because it makes this clicking sound when it happens its all quite but the gpu's fans

Has anyone tried the EVGA SLI patch that is supposed to help or enhance SLI in certain games? I think COD was one of the games supported. Just wondering if someone has tried this and if it has really worked?

    EVGA SLI enhancement patch

Edit: Ok, now I cannot find any information on COD 4. Thats odd. I wonder if it was for COD 4 or COD WAW?

Try to run COD4 with core 2&3. I still believe it is a quad core problem...
