So let's get our research work together, and share some findings on new 2015 Alienware Models.

The purpose of this thread is to: (1) Help with potential buyer/existing users of Alienware (2) Ensure we get the product we deserve by expanding our knowledge via collaborative effort thus putting ourselves in better position when dealing with Dell customer service.

I will start with my own findings, and these are official answers from dell technical support/sales team reached via (1-800-624-9897: Ailienware Technical Support), and Dell.com chat service.

    (1) 13-Inch, 15-Inch Ailienware comes with (1) 2.5 Harddrive/SSD Bay and they are compatible with ANY(regardless of brand, including Crucial MX100) storage drive with SATA port. The Warranty for the machine (Of course, except for the newly installed device purchased for elsewhere than DELL) WILL NOT BE voided as long as the device is installed as instructed.

    (2) The official Answer from DELL on power supply issue with GeForce 980m is as follows:
180W Adapter has been fully tested with 980m, and have NO issues with performance/compatibility.
HOWEVER, after purchasing the product, we can expect DELL to ship 230W Adapter if we do find issues with performance per its terms of service, as long as its backed up by Benchmark results. Also the product may be returned or exchanged if the issue has not been resolved.

Indeed, a lot of you may already know these information. But let's throw in some more and make this thread helpful :)

To be honest I don't quite see the point of this thread and it should fit in the 2015 13 / 15 / 17 subforum better.

The 180W adapter should be replaced by the 240W, not the 230W. And we have no word on what they will do if the benchmark shows any real improvements. OUR benchmarks have shown improvements using the 240W. We are waiting for them, their decision. From what I understand it would be quite a process for them to certify the use of the laptop with the 240W supply as opposed to the 180W supply.

Yep. Useless and info diversifying thread.

Furthermore, your #1 is wrong. It has been confirmed that many Crucial ssd do not work on aw13 and even some intels.

Let's keep this information in their respective threads.
No need to contribute to the fragmentation and have everything mixed together.
