I just went to AW and there is a Command center update.
With new Sense and touch options.
Sense looks like a face recognition program.
and
Touch is a touch pad controlling thing.
64bit users see FindVikas X64 thread
Install .Net framework 3.5 before updating CC.
It can be updated by running Command Center. When it opens CC will prompt for a update.
The Command Center update package can be found here
If you are having a problem when after it downloads from CC, it goes away and when you run CC update again it gives you a error message.
Here is what to do.
1) turn on View Hidden files, via control pannel/folder options.
2) navigate to c:User/"youaccount"/AppData/Local/Temp
3) locate & Run - CommandCenterSetup application
4) This will make a new folder in Temp file called "IXP000.TMP"
5) open that folder.
6) Run Command Center 1.28SP1
7) setup should run and install the new command center as well as a firmware update which is for the webcam.
^^no longer needed.^^
Found it in my hive!!!!!!
It is under: AREA-51 M15X 15" WXGA+ W/CAM SIL-RIP-PNT R1
it calls it "Alienware Command Center v1.0.24.0M" But will download the 1.28sp1.
32bit users:

^should install with out the need of the Guide.
The webcam Driver update for Sense can be found on My hive as well. Called "M15x Webcam 30625". It says to install this before the CC update.

Yeah I did update it by simply running command center.
But before the update could finish, an error message popped up saying that Microsoft.net framework 3.5 needs to be installed.
I download and install Microsoft.net framework 3.5 successfully, but now Command Center is nowhere to be found.
Do I just download Command Center from MyHive again? -
Yah, I have the same problem, I did what you sugested, DL from my hive and install, its upgrading again now. Now I am have trouble with the update installing.
-
Make sure to install Microsoft.net framework 3.5 before installing it though. -
Oh, thanks for that drew. I thought I did something wrong
-
when i start updating ,the download bar stops in the end ,and keeps there forever.
note: i am using vista ult. x64 (findvikas guide) -
Well The file is over 80mb, It seems that it is actually downloading it then, so if you have a slow connection it might take awile, mine did take over 7 min.
Just finished updating and wow the touch controls are amazing now, I have scrolling!!!!!

Hoo boy, I downloaded the command center for mobile from www.alienware.co.uk. The download went on successfully, but upon running the installer I get this error
Error reading setup initialization file.
Is there any other place where I can download this file? Anyone downloaded and ran this program successfully from www.alienware.co.uk? -
Try my little guide, I was having that exact same problem.

EVERYONE WHO HAS 64BIT VISTA AND ENHANCED COMMAND CENTER, DO NOT INSTALL THIS NEW COMMAND CENTER. I WILL HAVE A LOOK AT IT TODAY AND SHARE MY VIEWS ON ITS 64BIT SUPPORT.

This version has been out for quite a few weeks now and for some reason it always crashes when it tries to update the keyboard firmware on my machine.
-
alright findvikas just chill man ,anyway ,i insisted on installing it and i left the bar around 30 minutes ,after that when i came back i found a message "allow or deny" like i was trying to run a program ,i pressed allow and that's it.
nothing happens at all .i started the CC again.no problems at all ,but of course the same version (1.0.17.10) ,i still get the update notification every time i start it. -
-
Youre right! Touch controls are amazing now! The new programs at command center are very useful! (Sense and Touch)
Thank you -
Same here, I can't seem to get it to install successfully.
UPDATE: Thanks to dwend, I was able to install it! -
I do not see any major update for 64 bit users, and all the features provided by
'Touch' are already available in Synaptic's latest driver.
Does 'disable touchpad when external usb inserted' works for anyone? it still does not work for me. may be due to x64 only. I will take some time to enhance this for x64. -
-
and they proudly put this feature in there without testing
I do not see any feature in the fancy touch tab usable, I mean I already have synaptic control panel running in my systray
-
Can someone give me a link please?
-
Edit: To be honest, I don't really like this update. AlienSense is a cool feature, but I don't really need it and I'm having trouble disabling it. It keeps coming up with this error message. (Hopefully you might be able to decipher it findvikas?)
I would reinstall Command Center to see if that'd fix this but it's really late and I have a midterm tomorrow. -
I would not recommend this update unless you just want to try it. Nothing new expect a new tab of non-working features -
woah did i miss something? what's this "Sense" and "Touch" stuff about?
-
I'm confused - I'm runnning Vista 32, do I need to download from myHive to install or let CC auto update?
-
Before getting the update, download microsoft.net framework 3.5 first to avoid all the hassle.
Sense allows for face recognition, while touch allows for touchpad options. -
Auto update didn't work for me, even when I had .net framework installed. I tried the to run the update manually from the temp folder and that also failed. It looks like the camera update part worked, but the CC patch didn't. To get it to work I opened the .exe file with 7 zip which extracts the CC patch and the camera update. I ran the CC patch from here and it worked fine. The Sense log on does seem to work.

Hello,
I'm having the same issues installing it as anyone else, it seems.
How do I get Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5? In my 'Programs and Features' it says I've got 3.0, but I don't see any updates on Windows Update.
[Edit] Scratch that, I suppose I should have checked microsoft.com first ^^
Hope this update works. -
hey guys i have te same problem only thing is i cant get into myhive to get cc.
can anyone give me a place to download it from???i'm desperate! -
I was not able to download a working version of the command center for mobile. After following dwend's instructions, I was still able to make it work. -
+1 rep for cha for tellin me
+! rep for dwend for being a genius!!
thanks -
Dwend's guide seems kinda of complicated though ... And I'm still confused about whether I need to let CC update itself first or not! Lol. Why always so complicated with alienware?
-
If the update works itself then you don't need to worry.
-
True but why should it work for some and not for others?
-
If not, I'm afraid there is no other download spot other than MyHive.
Does it not accept your user/password? Try CLICKING the Login button instead of pressing Enter, I know it's a silly thing, but that was why I could never log into MyHive -
Don't forget Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5! Get it at microsoft.com (I'd give you a link but am not allowed by forum rules!) -
Cheers, Mike. Will do.
-
Who knows, in my limited experience with Alienware, their updates don't seem to get tested that well. -
For me the whole thing went smoothly after I installed Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, but when I click the 'Sense' option nothing seems to happen.
No loss, I find the ability to detect faces too creepy anyway! -
-
Can somebody upload this new version of Command Center, please?I can't see new version in "MyHive"
-
The new version isn't in your hive, it should prompt you to update when your run the old version.
-
install worked fine for me with dwend's method, but the Sense thingy isn't working. i set it to the second-lowest thingy and put my lappy on standby so i could reactivate with the Sense tool, but it just read "AlienSense is loading. please wait"... after five minutes of it not actually loading, i got fed up with it and logged in normally. i'm deactivating it as we speak... shame, it's a pretty cool idea.
-
-
I had to reboot to get mine to work.
-
haha OMG AlienSense iz teh uberhackz0r!!!1!
sorry but i just got it to work and it's really pretty sweet. guaranteed to get you some "oohs" and "sweet!" and "woah what's that dude?" -
its not working .
after installing framework 3.5 ,i started the CC setup ,everything went well.
now i rebooted and i got error from CC "system couldnt find the file specified" ,and when i start CC ,i have no AlienSence that you are talking about ,i only have AlienTouch (touch pad fix is not working) ,also ,when i start ALienFX i got a big error and the same error "system couldnt find the file specified" and i cant change the colors.
any possible way to go back ? -
I'd uninstall it, get the old version from your hive and try again. If the update fails the methods mentioned earlier.
-
well what do you expect, with your 64bit OS? AW has yet to support these, and findvikas stated quite clearly on the third page of this thread that 64bit users should stay away from this update...
as for going back, i'd suggest re-downloading findvikas' install pack, and installing the CC version included there. -
I'm downloading now,we'll see how does it work
Do you know how big is this new file what I'm downloading? -
I got to the same stage where you got fed up and logged in manually - it just says 'AlienSense is starting up, please wait...'
Clearly, you've done something clever at this point to get it to work. What was it?
Command center update
