If any Dell Rep will be able to read this, I hope you do address it.![]()
I ordered an Alienware M18x laptop through my uncle in the US and he told me that a Dell Rep has told him that it will be delivered by the afternoon of the 16th.
Unfortunately, it did not arrive on the said date, and I was informed by my uncle that he will not be able to wait for it since he can no longer delay his flight due to previous engagements.
Dell has said that their new tentative is the 22nd.
Seriously Dell. $3000 is by no means pocket change. I would have expected that you would have been more professional and would stick to your given time.
I can't believe I wasted time with such an unprofessional company. I even gone through the lengths of having a relative order a laptop for me since it is not available in my country.
YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO JEOPARDIZE YOUR CUSTOMER'S SCHEDULE ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY ARE PAYING YOU BIG SUMS OF MONEY.

Delays can happen. Nothing to do about it.
Dell is not going to adjust themselfs to the custommers shedule...imagine that. Your timeframe is not Dell's problem. Its known that is can take up to 4 weeks for a system to arrive. 4 weeks is kinda normal. -
had the same thing happen to me got told 5 times by dell that it would be 16th or 17th also called up fedex and said same thing. Then i get up today and check it now its saying it will be the 20th.
-
You have no right to dictate the schedules of others especially since they deal with hundreds if not thousands of customers on a daily basis. How dare you think you can upset the schedules of that many more people. Arrogant wanker.

How typical of the spoiled youths of today. It's ALL ABOUT ME!!
Quite sad. -
Dell's delivery is way off. I keep getting E-mail saying iether my laptop is in production or it will be dealy. When I call to ask about it no one have any idea what's happening. Yet it arrive on the same day when I call dell for a frull refund and the superisor on the phone assure me the laptop is still in thier Tronto warehouse and won't be ship out.

This is exactly why they are called EXPECTED time of arrival. They are NOT guaranteed; and if something goes wrong in testing for example then your machine is not suddenly going to magically go back in time and appear on that date anyway.
If you were weeks and weeks behind, then fair play, but a couple of days late...thats the way this works! -

This is one of the funnier posts that I've read in a while.
Honestly can't tell whether it's serious or tongue-in-cheek. -
You should have bought it at least a month earlier than you did to make sure he would have had it before he had to leave the USA. Or you should have used HID Evolution.
-
Certainly they shouldn't commit to a certain date and then postpone it several times. I mean really. Why commit to a certain date then when that date comes, you say that it's not done? The order has been cancelled now anyway.
-
Its a expected delivery date like mentioned before.

Stop whining, they give you an ETA, nothing more, nothing less.

Don't feel bad, I ordered one back in 2008 before heading back to Iraq again and it was over a month late. My computer ended up sitting at my house for 6 months until I was able to come home on R&R and get it.
-
I ordered my M15x and when it was due to be shipped, the Icelandic volcano erupted and threw ash into the air. My M15x arrived later than I expected.
Sometimes things don't work out the way you want them to - that's life. -

It would not make sense to promise a delivery date and i never wrote that they should, and it would not be dells fault in your scenario. But it is a fact that dell reps promised it would be built and shipped by said date over the phone several times. I heard it perfectly clear.
Like i said in my last post, i don't mind delays, but i don't i don't tolerate a liar. I did not file the BBB complaint for the delay, i filed it because they lied to me over the phone and the fact that it was taking close to 3 months without explanation. If I'm paying $3500 in exchange for a product, i should be treated with honesty and not be given the run around. How hard is it for them to say that there is a parts shortage or there is a high volume of orders etc. therefore your order is going to be delayed? -
Vergil - I think you've taken enough of a beating from NBR members for posting your rant, so I won't continue that on page 3 of this thread. We can all relate to the frustration you're feeling, especially when you're so excited about getting one of these awesome beasts. I hope HID Evolution is able to provide you with an M18x at a price comparable to what it would have been if it had arrived on time.
I have to wonder one thing though. If you cannot buy an M18x in your country, what kind of shape would you be in if you need to make a warranty claim? In checking out HID Evolution, don't forget to explore that situation as well. It would truly suck to be left high and dry with a broken or defective machine that you cannot get warranty service for.
I love my M18x and think it's the finest gaming laptop available, but it's not perfect... nothing is. I am in the middle of an exchange, and the M18x is a warranty replacement for an M17x R2... which replaced a Dell XPS M1730... which replaced a previous Dell XPS M1730. So, good luck and be careful and deliberate in making an informed decision. -
The last time I had a laptop bought in the US, it has really served me well. The machine broke down after the warranty expired and before it expired, it could have actually been brought back to the US for it to be repaired under warranty.
The laptop I bought here in my country though was actually worse and when I had warranty, they would ask you to wait more than a month for "replacement" parts to arrive and would replace the defective parts with second hand parts.
I'm not really to big on dealing with many dealers in my country, and that's the reason I'm willing to wait for some time to get a good machine. I was just really disappointed that I have to wait again for another relative who will be coming to the country. -
I know that its ridiculous to say that dell is on fault, but hey? you people are paying 3000 Bucks for that? Its by far the expensive machine .. their delivey schedules must be firm in that case... anyway I understand what you have been through. But for next time you gotta keep this experience in mind!
-
I will definitely keep this experience in mind.
I still am hoping to get an M18x since I really still like AW. I was just really frustrated at what happened. -
My exchange order was approved and initiated on 09/19/2011. Just found confirmation online this morning...
Anticipated ship date: Sep 26, 2011 (today)
Estimated delivery: Sep 27, 2011 by 3:00 PM
Vergil, as an FYI - 6990M and 580M video cards have been on backorder for almost a month. The anticipated arrival of the 6990M stock was today, so it looks like that occurred when expected. This could explain why your order was delayed. (The replacement stock of 580M cards, unless something has changed, are not expected to arrive until Friday, 09/30/2011.) -
Closed.
If you have issue with your order, contact support. Just a heads-up, we have Order Status threads in each sub-forum.
