I'm looking to overclock the GPU in my m17x.

Currently has a single 8700M GT. Will be upgrading in a few months to SLI 8800's but until then I want to squeeze every bit of power out of this single 8700.

I use to use PowerStrip on my desktop but it doesnt seem to like win7.

I've looked over the threads here and im still really confused on the potential of the GPU.

    Clocks currently:

    GPU: 625
    Memory: 799
    Shader: 1250

Ive been fiddling with GPUTool, but I cant seem to make any of the settings stay. They keep jumping back to the presets.

Is there a better app to use or am I just doing something wrong?

Also... is there anybody that's found the safe limits of the OCing on the 8700M GT? If so... could you share your findings?

You can also try ATI tools... yes ATI lol it will automatically change certain values as well when you are overclocking also making it easier

ATITool is the best for GPU overclocking in my opinion. It works fine with both ATI and nVidia, I use it to overclock my desktop 8800GT.

Thanks. I downloaded it but the Kernel driver doesnt seem to want to run, so I have no control over anything.

Running windows 7 x64... dont know if that affects it at all.

    EDIT:

I've gotten it stable up to: 775/1050

I'm downloading Vantage right now, I'll test it all in the morning and post figures.

Still after trying all of the combinations of DOX's drivers, I cant get the kernal driver to run so I can modify the clock speeds. :\
