    Hey all :)
Just saw M15x got cheaper in UK so i was considering it with this config:
    i7 720
    6GB RAM
    GTX 260M
    500GB HDD
    6-Cell Battery

But i have some questions from owners,
1_Does it have BSOD problems like ASUS G51J ? because ASUS G51J was one of my considerations but it had lots of BSOD problems
2_How is the overall build quality of this notebook and its keyboard?
3_How good is the sound quality and loudness ?
4_How much battery life will 6-cell battery give me with that config

    thanks :)

1: No BSOD problems from what I've heard of, although there is a problem with the processor throttling. I believe this problem exists in all mobile i7 laptops though.
2: Build quality is superb and the keyboard is excellent from what I hear.
3: Not sure about this myself.
4: Don't expect much. 2 hours on idle at best.

Hi dude, a friend of mine just bought the M15x.

    2. The build quality of the machine is very solid and AW sure learned from their mistake with the old m15x hinges ;), The keyboard is the same as the one in mine, and I love gaming with it. I hear the keyboard bends a little when you press on it tho.

    3. The sound loudness and quality is over average I would say. It is not something I would listen to music on, but that is expected from laptop speakers.

go through the threads discussing problems with latency on M17x and throttling issue on M15x and make an informed decision.

I've had my AP M15x since the 2nd of this month and I'll tell you it's the best PC laptop I've ever owned. Like I've said in other threads, I've owned Macs for years too and Alienware is the Apple of the PC world. This machine is awesome. Outstanding build quality. Attention to detail. Fast. Very, very fast. The unboxing is an experience in itself (reminds me of an Apple product the way it's packaged). Besides, just look at the thing. OMG it's beautiful! Yeah, get one. I don't have the throttling problems. I have the 240M GPU and a BIOS revision of "A03". Not sure if mine isn't throttling because of the GPU or the BIOS. Need some others with the 240M to step up to the plate (or more folks to get the A03 BIOS). Yeah, get this laptop. It rocks.

    1. I've been using multiple apps, gaming, regular browsing, etc, steady since I received the machine last week, and no BSOD yet (knocks on wood!)
    2. overall build quality excellent, very solid (and heavy!)
    3. pleasantly surprised with sound quality. Listen to music through laptop speakers at work, and sound is pretty good - not a lot of bass, but OK. When running through my home setup, sounds great.
    4. 6 cell will give you 80 to 120 minutes based on activity.

    1. I've had it for over a month and no BSOD's.
    2. The build quality rocks, feels solid and sturdy, also shrugs off hand oils quite nicely, so no palm prints.
    3. The stock speakers are great for gaming, and the audio out via the displayport to an HDTV is wonderful.
    4. 6-cell batteries will last for about 2 hours on stealth mode if you're browsing the web and whatnot. If you're gaming, you're looking at around 30 minutes.

The keyboard is great.. as good as any laptop I've owned. I use the machine for coding and gaming and it is excellent for both

I agree with Clarkezone, the keyboard is great. It’s responsive, and good for people with slightly larger hands. I wish they would have included a 10 key on there, but that’s a minimal gripe for me. The only thing I would gripe about with this machine is the touchpad, which was beyond sensitive when I first turned on the machine, as it would interpret the natural dust in the air landing on it as a double click. You have to mess with the settings to get this fixed.

I also received a bad hard drive, but Dell quickly replaced it.

Also, I would be weary about upcoming sales of some of these laptops, noticed it on the XPS 16 too - we may be seeing some refreshes on them (possibly better GPU's/CPU's), CES tomorrow anyway ;). As temping as a lot of these are, I am just keeping patient!

I wouldn't play any games unplugged. Your cpu and gpu would be down clocked, it like playing games with stealth mode on, not very good.
