Sorry not trying to break into your post, actually trying to assist as I too am looking for a notebook / laptop cooler for my M15X. Anyone use this Coolmax NB-400 for their M15X ? The placement of the fans look to be close to where the CPU and GPU openings are. Let me know what you all think. God Bless :)

    i use a zalman nc2000
i think whizzo does as well, but he also has tested other brands.

with the search back, you may want to do one...there was a lot of time put into this topic by others before.

i've tested the Zalman NC2000, the NZXT Cryo LX, and the Antec 200 with the m15x. the Zalman NC2000 performs best by a fair margin.

i also use a zalman nc2000. It's a great fit for the m15x, performs well, and is very quiet.

How does the Zalman NC-2000 compare to the Enermax Aeolus CP001 in cooling the Alienware M15X ??? Again thanks for any info and experience. God Bless :)

I'm probably going to get the NC2000 once I get back home, currently on campus in uni. Just wondering though, how's the angle of elevation and how is it bulk wise? I don't want anything too bulky, and I wouldn't like it if the angle's too steep. Also, it sorta looks like the vents in the cooler stop at where the CPU and GPU vents in the m15x begin. Is this the case?

the nc2000 is actually pretty thin, and rather light too. as for the angle, normally, it's not that extreme, but you can fold out two little legs at the back to make the angle bigger. as for the vents, yes, the cooler's vents are right below the m15x' CPU and GPU vents, however, this not only cools the HDD and ACPI very nicely, but the cool air gets blown upwards along the bottom of the laptop towards the GPU and CPU vents, where it gets sucked in. so it's actually a rather well-working setup.

on a side note, don't expect to see any temp differences for the GPU. i have yet to see a drop of even a single degree celsius with all the coolers i've tested.

Thanks for feedback everyone. Does the cooler or any cooler mentioned above cool down the GPU?

From looking at pics of the Zalman NC2000, it looks like the fan isn't positioned under the vent for GPU, but it is placed nicely for the CPU? Any thoughts everyone?

Are there any coolers designed for the GPU? My CPU is fine, it runs between 33-40 degrees at full load while gaming. I'm currently waiting to get the 280m GTX and want to ensure the GPU doesnt get to toasty.

    JDELUNA,

I joined your efforts with getting the 280m, and was wondering how hot does the GPU get without overclocking and how hot with it overclocked?

Really? That's odd, cause I'm currently using a generic, cheap-as-hell cooler and I can see up to 4-5 celsius difference in my GPU's max temp, and an equal drop in average temperature.

the zalmon 2000 cooler does a good job of evenly distributing the airflow across the whole surface of the vents. You should see an improvement on any laptop with that cooler.

Has anyone tried the Zalman Infinite cooler? It looks to me like the mesh grill is better positioned than the NC2000. Anyone tried?
