just got the AW insider email. seems they've got something new coming out 11.03.08.
*** that's in three days!
anyhow, i'm thinking it's a new case design, called Predator P3. it's too early to bring out new laptops imho.
what do you guys think?
EDIT: it's very probable that it's a new case design, because the disclaimer thing at the bottom says:
in case (pardon the pun) you didn't know, Aurora and Area-51 are AW's names for the desktop systems.
-
lol we posted at almost the same time...classic.
-
I honestly think it's the release of another Breed episode. But hey, the countdown is 4 days so we'll find out soon.
Also, Area-51 is also the name of their mobile systems as well, so I doubt that disclaimer says anything about what they're going to release. -
well, their cases are called "Predator", and the first gen was called P1, and now we're on P2, so it's only logical...
plus, the BRE3D scenes have been building towards new desktop cases i think. -
I just ordered an Alienware Area-51 desktop computer two days ago... I got this same email today, and when I called to check on the order status, I also asked about this email. The CSR I spoke with told me there was nothing to worry about, because they are launching a notebook product, and it would not affect my order... time will tell, I suppose, but I doubt he lied to me, and in any case, my order isn't due to ship until at least the day after (probably more) so I can always change it if need be...
I don't think it would be a case, the current case doesn't need improvement IMO. What do you guys think
EDIT: That disclaimer has been on the bottom of every Alienware Insider email I can remember, so it really doesn't tell us much... -
haha that's awesome, maybe they'll add touch screen to their laptops (windows 7 style) i'm still saving up for my new alienware laptop
-
Anyways, I'm thinking either a new screen size laptop, including ATI cards (Seems like Alienware has been dealing with ATI recently), which would pwn..
I'm hoping it competes with the OCZ whitebook...the m17x is extremely overpriced.. and no cheaper alternatives are offered for an alienware 17 inch.. -
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
another 15 inch to choose from would work out great.
-
Oh, you're talking about the notebook case... I thought we were talking about the desktop case. Well then, yes I guess it could be a new notebook case, they will always be changing and heat will always be an issue. I don't have an alienware notebook, so I'm not aware of the issues surrounding them, but I do know that I have probably the best notebook case around (on my macbook air)
haha
I'm really pumped for this alienware desktop PC though (except for Vista), should be sweet -
It is something new.
It is something small.
You can use it in many places.
You charge it's battery.
It's like a computer... but its mobile.
And you can put it on top of your lap.[/SIZE] -

-
doesn't the core i7 launch on the same date? co-incidence i think not
-
Leave them steven, everyone I know who uses a MAC is unproductive as hell. Half the time is used figuring out why OSX decided to screw up a document/spreadsheet/project for you and not actually doing work.
-
it is probably something in between the M17x and the M15x. Since the M17X dose not have 8700GT SLI options now.
-
Interesting, new notebook information already?
-
At least mac users don't have to spend half their time updating software and losing system resources to 'security' software... but that's a whole other topic.
I only say except Vista because I don't particularly like the UI, and I've used it for more than a month before and I found it took up so much of the system resources just to run that I had to switch back to XP. Now on a high end system, this might not be such a big deal, but it still goes to show how inefficient it is. At the very least, I think most can agree that they could have done a much better job, especially since we waited nearly a decade for a successor to XP... -
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
Vista was just a preview to windows 7, though windows 7 will be very similer, with little changes in the GUI.
Really though, nowdays theres not a whole lot of difference between the Mac and the PC, same hardware, same software, different interface.
Perhaps AW will release a 16in, which will do me no good. -
guys its a 17" centrino 2 beast. with qx9300 9800gtx sli 4gb of 1333 ddr3 and dual 450gb ssds aw pulled a m9750
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
booo jellyBeans, boooo, boo for you, we wanr a black m15x.
-
Even more so, we want a chassis swap offered to current owners. :X I actually don't really care but if for some reason I feel like my m15x loses its aesthetic appeal, mixing it up with a black chassis might be fun.
-
It's all speculation. No one knows anything, and CS reps can say whatever they want really, considering AW's ill-personal CS...
Guys i just got off the phone with them*, they're releasing a 15in, with dual 4870X2s and qx6950s!!
*a rambling hobo.
Just wait til the 3rd.. -
My guess is also the same as whizzo's, a new desktop chassis.
BR3ED, the 3 really makes one think of the P-3 chassis. -
aurora laptop. crappy amd quadcore, but it will at least have mobile ati 4x50s in sli.
-
I just watched the BR3ED shorts, and it seems like the case in the video isn't a new one, looks just like the current one... could be wrong (hope I'm wrong, I'd love to be able to change to a newer case). In the credits at the bottom of that page, it mentions the Area 51 and the m15x, but I didn't notice the notebook so far... maybe that's what scene 5 is all about?
-
-
it was facetious
-
My order hasn't gone into production yet... should I put it on hold? Anything else it might be for the desktop line? I'm believing that CSR less and less now...
-
I'm hoping its a black m15x
... although half of me thinks that this is something bigger..
-
What about an ultraportable? somethin to rival the envy 133
-
If im not mistaken,a year back in 2007 about the same period 11/2007 they released infos for there upcoming m15x/m17x so this make me believe this has to do with there new production line of notebooks, also do not get suprised to see black scullcap designs since they seem to save them for later use,tbh even if they do give some informations out i dont expect anything to get in a customer hand in less than 6 months, like it happened with m15x (if is indeed a new notebook and not m15x/m17x with more chassis options),this is how AW's retarded marketing policy work...
-
you know, german CS did drop a hint that the black m15x would debut in november... we'll have to wait and find out i guess.
however, i still think that the usage of the word "evolution" hints at the next desktop case (P3, seeing how we're on P2 now, and P1 is discontinued). -
i think its about time the black chassis comes out. if its a gen 3 AW case then i give up on breed
hasnt it almost been a year and then still havent released black -
I just remembered something about AW mentioning that they would release the curved display by the end of this year.
So many speculations -
shoelace_510 8700M GT inside... ^-^;
So for instance, since the m9750 uses Intel, its full name is: Alienware Area-51 m9750... -
the word "evolution" smells like montevina to me.. centrino 2?
-
Only time will tell. Let's hope it's more evolutionary than BR33D.
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
There Introducing a new video series called "BREAD". Yeah, I guess its supposed to show us how much money they made off the m15x. I'm looking real forward to it.
Ok, so anyways, I call them up and spoke to CS. They told me they couldn't tell me anything about the new "laptop" that is going to be ready for "Ordering" on Monday, and that this new "laptop" might just be a 15 inch. but she didn't tell me that.
So who knows, She also mentioned that there should be more emails before Monday, so we will see. -
15"? german CS (and others) said 17"...
-
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
well, she didnt say 15 inch, so I can't confirm that, but I told her I was looking at the m15x, and was trying to see if I should buy it now, or wait till after monday, she basically said to wait, and call her monday.
-
I'm willing to bet a dollar that they're going to announce intel i7 chips for their desktop systems and nothing else. A WHOLE dollar!
-
i'd hold against that, actually.
-
How do we collect?
-
paypal, i suggest.
-
Ill bet some leaves and a half eaten bagel that the new notebooks will NOT have the 4000 series ATI cards. Why are people always speculating on those cards when the cards only started shipping yesterday? So is Alienware gonna build a new notebook in 4 days?
-
see my post in the other thread...
-
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
Here's another page that briefly speaks about it, and they think it is a notebook for sure, more than that they think it is a desktop replacement, I certainly hope not.
http://www.pclaunches.com/notebooks/alienware_the_evolution_continues.php -
Now my desktop just dropped $100 in price... I hope they'll give me the new price, or I might have to cancel the order and make a new one. Anyone else have any experience with this with AW?
-
Just ask them for the difference. If you have purchased it recently, just go ahead and talk to them.
