This might lend to the idea that they are launching something new on the desktop front too... out with the old and in with the new?
I have the financing done already, so I'll probably have to get them to adjust that, but no biggie, I'll be laughing all the way to the bank.
-
100 bucks off their desktops is peanuts, man... seeing how they usually cost around 4k-6k.
-
This one had a starting price of about $1550 CAD, now down to $1450 CAD... that's a decent knock-off. But it could be due to the falling american, er.. rising Canadian dollar
-
I just hope it is a 15# notebook, with carbon fiber chasis, and good price....
-
+1 and qx9300 compatible (although this would make the price bad)
guess we'll know in about 20 hours -
ROFLMAO
-
-
I have to mention something here... While it is true that the Canadian dollar was at parity (and above) the US dollar earlier this year, and that it did tank to the mid seventies in September and October, it most recently has risen above 80 cents per USD. This is what I was talking about with the very recent Alienware price adjustments... I wish I had bought the system when the dollar was at parity, but I guess if I wait until after the election, I could probably save some dough too

Ok I have the info!!
I just got off the phone with AW and they said that the news is (and I'm paraphrasing here):
"We have a new mobile system out now. It will have quad core processing with 1066 front side bus. It will be called the Vindicator. That's all that I know about it for now, but if you will check our site later today it should give you more details..."
-
wut? (Filling character limit)
-
Haha no way that would be crazy. I think you are playing us but you've been here longer than myself so I trust you
The Vindicator though... I searched that and here is what I came up with...
1)The Vindicator
Your source for local news, sports, weather, discussions, contests and information in Trumbull, Mahoning, Mercer and Columbiana counties.
2)Home – Honeywell Vindicator
Access control from NexWatch WSE/Honeywell, offers complete access control systems, including access management systems, card readers, biometric readers, ...
3)Vindicator - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vindicator may refer to:. Look up vindicator in Wiktionary, the free dictionary. SB2U Vindicator, a US Navy aircraft used in the 1930s. ... -
Not surprised that they actually might announce the new laptops tomorrow just what they with the m15x and m17x last year; It remember it was around the same time.
-
wow aw you better price this thing decently....... wait its aw there a better chance of george bush staying in office haha
-

I'd vote for George for a third time.
and "Vindicator" doesnt sounds to alien themeish, ya know. -

Yes I was surprised at the name as well... but that's what their guy Jerry from technical support told me...
So I guess we'll just have to wait and see for more details. -
I was hoping for "Predator" or "Cruiser".
Dam, if AW price this decently in AU (which they wont), i will regret getting the Acer 8930 -
-
I MIGHT have a better name
15" Model (1 stands for 1GPU) Alienware X01 : Leading an evolution in mobile computing.
17" Model (2 stands for 2GPU) Alienware X02 : Evolving the meaning of a "desktop replacement" -
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
A good name would be "Refundenator".
-
It is up on the site.
It is a 17" notebook with quad core and ATI crossfire -
...and the old chassis
(ok slightly different)
-
I thought it would be something new.......
-
wow nice im gonna get me 1 of these very hawt and zomg decent price!
-
Unbeliabably cheap! Is anyone getting a "maintence" notice on the customize page?
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
I try to customize, but all I get is this:
-
Looks like everyone is in a hurry to try and customize one
One thing though, under galleries it shows illuminated keys. Is this just a mistake? or will the m17 really have the option for them? -
I think it's just standard blue
-
Can customize now... you can change between 3 colours i think
-
yeah not bad with everything to max config and still under 4500/-
-
I think all the m17x owners have egg on their faces...
lol. -
shoelace_510 8700M GT inside... ^-^;
Yeah the illuminated keyboard is an option, and it has 3 different colors to choose from it seems like...
-
i've been telling y'all they'd rebrand the OCZ whitebook
-
1. AlienFX? More keyboard colors?
2. Smart Bay?
3. The 9800M GT in SLI?
And oh my the price difference as well -
shoelace_510 8700M GT inside... ^-^;
-
Wow so they rebrand the Whitebook, and completely embarrass the m17x.
Dang, the prices on this thing are hot. Dual 3870s for $1650 omg. Too bad they still don't offer WSXGA+ 1680x1050. -
so I have this friend that's kind of a newb. And he wants to know if the graphics card on the m17 are better than the 9800gt the m15x has... And if this one laptop beats the m15x as quality goes...
-
a 400 dollar laptop beats the m15x quality lol
-
Too bad the modular bay and AlienFX features are gone but the lower price difference makes up for it and it is an OCZ rebrand which of course didn't have those features.
-
i loled @ when in the aw vids said they designed the notebook. all they did was take an m9750 back plate and glue it on.
-
I almost, almost want to order one, just for the facial recognition cuz that's sweet... but I would want it pimped out, and that would be ridiculously high priced. Most of the best stuff on this NB are things that you have to pay extra for... like usual i suppose
-
actually, the m17 is (for AW) enormously cheap.
-
-
Does anyone have experience with upgrading their AW notebooks? Like, if I wanted to swap out a processor, or add a vid card, is it easy enough to do?
-
Lethal Lottery Notebook Betrayer
wow i got owned. i was wanting a pc like that from alienware, now i have this desktop, that m17 is my dream laptop
-
LOL 1-shotted.
-
-
Still very powerful though. Maybe he wanted a laptop like the M17 regardless? It is a pretty good machine with a pretty good price tag. I'm just glad it's a 17" 'cause if it were 15.4" I'd be stabbing myself too.
-
unless an m15 comes out too.
