    I'm getting the microcenter version.

It has the Quad Core 2.0 Q9000. Is it Overclockable; if so to what, and is it safe and stable?

Does this laptop overheat a lot?

How are the fan noises? Is it loud?

    Thanks!

It is one of the coolest and quietest laptops out there, it only gets loud when you are benching/heavy gaming I find.

That CPU is usually good to OC up to ~2.5 GHz.

How is the Q9000? Will it make my games run slow (Such as Aion).. since its 2.0 ghz? Thats the only option Microcenter offers =/

Every single CPU chip is unique in the voltages and clock speeds it will take. My Q9000 will have different tolerances to yours.

You should be able to push your Q9000 to ~2.5GHz without too much problem unless you get unlucky and get a poor chip.

The M17x will not get any temperature problems, in fact it's got a fantastic cooling system that will keep your whole system running nice and cool.

Even at 2.0GHz there are not many games that will be bottlenecked by it, however when overclocked you shouldn't hit any game that has a problem with it.

Even with the CPU and both GPU fans, it was quieter than my older Toshiba (to be sure does have a higher GHz CPU). Mine does get very warm, but it is bearable. I got the Q9300, so can't answer about OCing the Q9000....

when my m17x came, it had a q9000 in it. I set it to 1280 fsb right away and was fine (this is exactly 2.4 GHz). It stayed at that until I put in the QX9300 (about 4 hours later haha)

How much does a new processor usually cost?

depends on the model, the availability at the time, and where you buy it from....

that question can't really be answered

Does overclocking to 2.4 ghz on the Q9000 void the warranty? Also, how do you overclock? Is it done by simply going into the bios?

technically, yes, but they will never be able to prove it. Also, you cannot do any damage overclocking because you never change the voltages, just the speed. The voltages that get raised are what can be potentially harmful about an overclock

ya, bios > advanced settings tab > overclocking settings > set to unlinked > enter both as 1280 > save and exit

And if I ever want to change it back to 2.0 just incase, how would I do that?

Also does Windows 7 64 bit run flawlessly on this laptop?

WRONG! Sort of, might just be my special case, but I fried my first motherboard some how. I set the FSB to 1100 in the bios and happened, and it wouldn't turn on after that. I think I had a defective one though.
