    I've had a search about the forum but can't find a solution, I just wondered, Has anyone else ever had their audio drivers 'crash' as such, More and more frequently mine appear to be crashing in a way that is only resolved by a reboot.

    Cheers for any help.

    P.S - I'm on Win7 x64 and regardless of the amount of driver reinstalls it still seems to occur =/

    Do you have an error message pop up that Windows Shell.dll has stopped working? I got that a few times, would happen when I switched from onboard sound to the displayport/hdmi connection several time, but then I ran a repair installation of W7 and that fixed the problem.

    Nah i get nothing, It's as if it crashes but nothing knows about it, Media player assumes its still functioning then decides its not, games refuse to start aswell as a few other problems.

    First time i've said this, I actaully wish i had an error message.

    I'll try repair like you said, Might fix it :eek:

    The issue I get from the IDT Audio is;
    Every now and then when I boot, it says no audio device installed. I have to click on the icon and Win7 does it's trouble-shooting and tells me it needs to reinstall the driver. I just follow the trouble shooting promtps and it fixs itself.
    It seems to happen when I install new software.
    It is an inconvenience, that is it.

    I know this is not the issue at hand. I just thought I would add this. I hope you don't mind.

    My fault only seems to be solved by a reboot, which is REALLY annoying.

    Tried a repair and it's still done it, I'm at a loss now, Hence why i thought i'd ask if anyone had any similar situations :(
