this is my m15x with smart bay battery and using internal graphics card.
![]()
see how much the battery power is? That's insane!! woho~~![]()
Last time I checked it bounce between 15 hours and 12 hours. So I think 13~14 hours is the average..
PS. this is with wireless on!
-
-
Have you backed this up with testing the battery?
Very nice reserve if its true -
Well there you go... another thing alienware can gloat about.... 13hr battery life
-
Man..the max I can get is 7 hours. And that's already more than enough for me
haha. Good for you.
-
well, this is my first time using internal and with both battery. I think this value will decrease overtime. But it's still cool though.
Now I got 9 hr and 40 mins (91%)
Not bad -
I would do a real test tomorrow and put on a timer to count exact settings.... gosh looks like I have to spend the entire day testing. or may be I set the timer and sleep
-
Wow nice, I have the smartbay battery too, but I can't seem to get more than 3 hours. And thats without playing games in power saving mode! Any advice?
-
really ???
this is what I do to get the max battery.
Fully charge both, put on integrated mode, Stealth mode, lowest brightness, and all lights off (alienfx)
I remember i get more than 4hrs after that i slept and hibernated it. -
I have gotten over 8 hours while in use, I was doing a spreadsheet style program.
pencil do you have the 9 cell battery? -
I usually get about 7 hours with wireless on, stealth mode, integrated graphics, lowered brightness ( usually using 2 or 3 bars ) power saver mode, and alienfx turned off.
-
How do you turn on the integrated graphics mode?
-
BinaryGFX... Fn+F7 I guess ?
-
I get unlimited baterry when I am plugged in
LOL!!! -
will wont believe it... I can run even without batteries when I am plugged in
wish the electricity supply was wireless too -
If you want to check which graphics card you are currently using, right click on your desktop
1. If you see Nvidia Control Panel as an option, you are on dedicated graphics ( in your case, the 8800M GTX )
2. If you see Graphics Options as an option, you are on integrated graphics ( X3100 ) -
yea, that's one of the benefits of m15x is the integrated graphics card.
I think I need the timer too, but I don't know how to implement it. -
hehehe.... you have system clock for that
-
make sure you remove the auto shutdown when 10% remaining... in power options. 10% can take you 48 minutes if 100% taking you 480 mins
-
this is pretty awesome if it is true...
Where can i get the Smart Bay accessories??
when i purchased, i only bought the blu ray drive and now i woul like the extra hdd and battery and AW really does not help with ZERO m15x support in the online AW store lol
EDIT:
and is the 9cell battery for the alienware bigger and bulkier than the standard one? -
You need to call the tech support and ask for it.
For your convenience and to help the tech. rep. at AW, these are the actual names of the item
M15X ADDITIONAL 6 CELL SMARTBAY BATTERY SILVER-PNT
M15X SMARTBAY ADDITIONAL HDD KIT-SILVER-PNT
HDD Casing is approx $18 while battery is approx $55 +taxes -
-
i cant remember but you say the price of the battery is 55$? thats not bad...
But the HDD comes in i believe two different sizes ranging around $250??
o yeah i found pics of the two cell batteries in comparison

just wondering, is this 13 hour claim actually plausible? i also dont see the 9 cell battery on alienware's website. did they stop offering it or am i just not looking hard enough. i really hope this 13 hour claim is true!
-
i wpuld say its actually closer to 7-9 hoirs but still that is insane considering the fact that it is such a gaming machine
-
i have tested out my 9cell with my sb 6cell and I can get almost 10hrs on
Integrated
Stealth
Power Saver
Brightnes around the middle
Wireless On -
well today i purchased the smartbay battery and the 250gb sb drive...together for $200
i already have the bluray drive so now i am happy
OO WAIT and dont forget the 4gb newegg is sending me! -
I get 7ish.
Don't trust Vista's estimates... actually test it with a timer.
-
nice, seems like 13 hours is not far from the real time I hope.
I'm glad that m15x is extremely mobile with integrated, stealth and power saver.
at least it's beyond my previous HP laptop. -
Does AW even make a 9 cell battery for the m15x?
-
I believe the 9-cell is only available in certain locations. I believe it's been released in Europe mainly. no idea why.
You might be able to get one from CS if you call... No idea though.
it sticks out the back and it's kinda clunky looking... IMO.
it's square, just like the current battery, but extends behind the laptop about 3/4" (maybe more), just fyi -
yeah it makes it look like legos, that is why i just purchased the smartbay battery and on top of that i already have 2 6 cell batteries soo.. i think im good for now
-
9 cell was purchased why buying the laptop and it stick outwards about a inch. Doesn't bother me at all.
-
Does anyone know which battery gets consumed first: the bay or the main?
-
hmm good question, I guess all this time i thought they work simultaneously...
if they dont, id have to say the regualr one first -
the SB battery is usually the first to go
-
Crazy Battery Power!!
