I have brand new hinges and a brand new top panel on my m15x. Despite this, the lid and hinges still make annoying and loud sounds when you open and close and move the laptop.

The black front panel, the piece with the alienware logo that goes over the hinges, is bent out where my bad hinge used to be. My old hinge was bad for so long that it seems to have messed up that part. I can snap it back into place but it instantly snaps back off with a loud "SNAP!" So I just have to leave it bent off.

My whole laptop just creaks and grinds a ton. The whole frame flexes and makes noise as well.

Is there something I can order that's gmaskish to wrap my laptop like Cha had his done? I'd rather not send my only gaming computer away for a few weeks...but it might be worth it. My laptop will be a beast if I can get all the creaking/flexing fixed. Right now it's kinda just embarrasing! My friend's 17" GATEWAY P-6831FX gaming laptop is much more sturdy than this thing is. And he paid way less for this. That thing has better build quality than this :p

    Any suggestions? Please? :D

    Welcome to the jungle...

I sent mine in for hinge repair as well, ill let you guys know how they fixed it. Hopefully it will be good news because last time I sent in my M15x for a faulty stealth button, they sent it back the same way after waiting weeks in the same exact condition. On this repair I mentioned to them at least 3 times so far that they need to fix the hinges and the stealth button, so well see if they pay attention this time.

I think the best thing to do is to make sure that you still have warranty if the hinges do pop.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I received my m15x last week (new) and it creaks like crazy. It's a combination of the hinges, black plastic "frame" around the screen, and lcd cover. Other than the creaking, i love my laptop.

The plastics are available on ebay if the warranty is expired. If you know how to use a screw driver and ground yourself any of it is easily replace.

You can also buy those plastics and send those off to be fitted instead of your whole system.

come on now don't bash all systems and companies have issues alienware is no exception. Anyway warranty coverage is a good idea not just for hinges but anything else popping up down the road I just extended myself. Might see if they'll fix them before they snap cause the noise does suck hopefully they can fix most of them as opposed to not being able to

In my case, I attribute the creaking to that light pipe they put around the LCD screen. The creaking isn't coming directly from the hinges, just from where the light pipe ends at the bottom of the screen. I guess it creates enough of a gap to cause some squeaky openings.

What exactly do you mean by "sending them off to be fitted"?
