I had to restart my computer a couple hours ago and since then CrossFireX hasn't been working properly (at all) according to GPU-Z. I've turned it off and re-enabled it, I've turned it off, restarted the computer, then re-enabled it, and it still doesn't show as being enabled in GPU-Z. I tried AlienRespawn and still nothing.

    Any help?

Interesting, what does it show in device manager?

try out gpu-z 0.3.6. See if it says the same thing.

    Yep, same thing.

Gonna try reinstalling the drivers manually.

Uninstalling and reinstalling drivers didn't help it.

Tried updating CCC and drivers and still nothing. Went back to integrated graphics and then back to the ATIs and still no CrossFireX. On hold with Alienware for quite a while now.

Let us know what happens. If device manager and CCC both say crossfire is OK then they may blame gpuz.

How about running a simple benchmark to see ?.. Also 3dmark 06 and Vantage should state linked adapters...

My 3DMark06 score was WAY down without CrossFire. I fixed it though. Had to use Dell's driver for it from their website. :(

Seems to work fine so far. I just didn't like the idea of having to use Dell's version and not the ATI version.

You did mobility mod the ATI Version right?

It's just the Dell tested version of the ATI driver. In the end it's all ATI.

Using 9.11's here, and everything's peachy. Try mobility mod with the latest drivers for ATI Radeon Desktop cards..

Nah, I haven't done any mods yet. Been too busy to mess with tweaking too much.

I'm having the same problem. CCC shows crossfire enabled and GPU-z shows it disabled. Also 3DMark06 only results in ~4500 so I know something is wrong. Actually right out of the box PCMark Vantage was only in the 4000's. I have the Dell drivers installed, I tried the modded 9.11 drivers but no results.

I'm wondering what you had to do to get it working.

No go. I've tried the drivers from Dell. Tried the Alien respawn. Think is this has been an issue from the minute I opened the box. The first thing I did was benchmark with Vantage and received a low 4000's score. This was lower than a low end machine I had just benchmarked at work. Even with a single 4870 I should be pulling up better numbers.

I've attached a screen of my GPU-z numbers. I'm not sure on the core and mem clock numbers. Do they scale when not under stress or are the core clocks without a multiplier? I see 200's for mem and gpu.

Unless you guys have some ideas I may have to contact support. Would be disappointing after waiting 2 months for my system to have this problem now.

I got the same problem last week. Just push the speedometer icon on the far right corner of your laptop to switch from 9400 to Ati (even if it's desabled, it's still there... ). After a restart it should work.

I tried the stealth mode, also the FN+F7 and it switches between the 9400 and the ATI's but I still don't register the cards being linked in GPU-z or 3dmark06. Even unlinked should I be pulling only 4500 in 3dmark06? I'm thinking this might be a hardware problem but I'm open to ideas that I haven't tried yet.

Try a hard reset, saw this in another thread for resetting heat issues. Why not give it a go?

Remove the CMOS battery (found under the plate covering RAM/HDD), Remove the System battery, unplug and hold down power for 20-30 seconds. Put back your CMOS and regular battery and fire it up, see if that works.

Who knows. You never know! If not call Alienware support :)

I'm not sure, but I think your driver not installed correctly, because GPU-Z on your thumb show that you use Windows 7 driver. Try uninstall all Catalyst drivers, run Driver Cleaner, then install driver from Dell.If it works you can tweak 9.11 later.
P.S also try turn off Catalist A.I in CCC and turn it on

Thanks for the info, I'll try some of it when I get home tonight.

That last install when I did the screenshot may have been bad but the previous ones which included 9.11, and downloaded drivers from Dell as well as alien respawn all show the same "disabled" status.

I also ran Driver Sweeper when cleaning off the old drivers. Is there a better driver removal tool such as Driver Cleaner that you mentioned?

I'd really like to think I'm missing something obvious and not have to call support.

One other thing, in GPU-z, if crossfire is working it will show up as enabled right? Not that I'm chasing a GPU-z reporting problem and crossfire is actually working.

I finally got this fixed. After a tech support recommendation to run the diagnostics program at bootup, the crossfire was enabled. Not sure why it fixed the problem though since all it does is test various components of the system. It also came up with an Error Code 2000-0414 Inverter cable not detected.

But after completing diagnostics and rebooting everything was working. Ran 3dmark06 and got over 13k.
