    Howdy folks!

I recently moved my Crossfire 4870's from my old r1 m17x to a new r2.

Everything seemed to go well, I transferred the cards, cable, installed the extra fan, etc. The single card I put into my old system is working fine but only one of my crossfire cards is being recognized in the newer machine. The other shows as with the yellow warning sign.

I have tried using the 10-2 and 10-3 drivers and completely removing them from the system between installs and re-installs. No go.

CCC shows as being installed but will not launch. No error message or anything amiss - it simply does not launch.

I tried GPU-Z and both cards showed but Crossfire is listed as "disabled".

No other devices show as broken under the Device Manager - I fresh installed Windows 7 64 and installed all the chipset drivers and whatnot in order from the m17x blog and Dell.

    Still nothing. :(

Anyone have any ideas what may be going on?

    Thank you

I opened up my m17x this evening and checked / double checked the connections. Everything looks tight and secure. When I transferred the cards I never disconnected the cable. I unhooked each card and moved them together.

I tried a driver clean and reinstall again with no luck. Any other ideas?

Try actually reseating the crossfire cable-unplug it, plug it back in. This might help.

Okay, I tried re-plugging the cable. Still no go.

The cable doesn't seem damaged in any way, nor do the cards.

The system seems to recognize both cards, but one just doesn't do anything and crossfire is not an option.

Is there a specific positioning to where the cards go? Meaning they really only seem to fit the way I have them, but is it possible they are reversed or something?

Did you try the dell drivers and see if it works then if so upgrading? I had that problem at first until i reinstalled the os.

If you left the heatsinks on them they only go one way lol.

He stated he moved all that from the R1 which i believe it was working right as per his first post..

I believe its software.. I have seen this many times from the 10 series being buggy on install.. I had this happen before myself and had to install the dell 9x series and all worked there and then upgraded over them with the 10.3 ones.

Are you sure you have the right drivers? I had the exact same problem when I did an OS reinstall on my R2. If you went to the main AMD drivers page then you have probably downloaded the wrong drivers. Do a Google search for Radeon Mobility Drivers. Unlike nVidia, the mobility drivers are not in the standard package. After I downloaded the correct drivers, they installed correctly for me.

Kilthro and jcaulley nailed it. I had downloaded and modded my drivers directly from AMD after my fresh system install. I went back to Dell, grabbed their old drivers, and that fixed the problem.

Once Crossfire was recognized, I was then able to get 10.4 and install. Thanks guys!
