Any more info on this, I've been looking for a solution for a couple days now...

i've been googling for a long time now and besides this forum (which i visit but never registered before) i've only found one more link. (doesn't seem specific to mobility radeon like we have though)
    http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33944676

wanted to add that it is installing my cards as
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 X2" - No Errors
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 X2" - (Code 10) Device cannot start.

While i do have two "3870"s i do not have two "3870 X2"s.

Just one simple question and i dont mean anything bad but; why do you keep downloading new builds when the old ones 7077-7000 work like a charm? And i had a little glitch like this with some drivers on build 7077 and others didnt scale.. just try E-Wrecked`s 8.12 drivers. They work great for me.

    tried many driver packages:
    Microsoft's Driver.......Fail
    From ATI site: 9.4.....Fail
    From ATI site: 9.3.....Fail
    On Alienware CD.......Fail
    ATI 9.4 + Mobil Mod..Fail
    E-wrecked's Driver.....Fail
Some others i cant remember... (all of which fail to fully function)
I have yet to try Catalyst 9.5 beta but I doubt it will work.

Many say "Not for this version of windows" etc etc
Some install as "ATI Radeon Mobility 3870 X2"
Only a couple I've gotten to install as "ATI Radeon Mobility 3870"
All drivers i've tried show second vid card as "(Code 10) Device cannot start."

GPU-z reports both cards exist and that Crossfire: "Disabled (unsure on Vista64)"

Just wanted to post and say that I am having the exact same problems as everyone else here.

I even tried to use older driver version 8.56 and it failed. So it would seem the ball is in ATI's court.....which means we may be waiting a while. ><

I don't suppose anyone has a link to Win 7 build 7077 or 7068 I can use in the mean time?

Hey, thanks for the invite! You don't often see such courteousness on the Internet. :)

Anyway, one last update, I went ahead and tried some desktop catalyst drivers as well and some old Vista drivers modded using the Mobility Modder. Still no luck.

Also, I have a friend here with almost the exact same Mobo and chassy as I do except that he has an nVidia 8700 SLI set up and his works flawlessly (Both are OCZ boards btw).

    Update:

I just tried to install the 9.5 Beta drivers. They won't install whatsoever even after the trick Dondadah88 posted of moving those strings into the .inf.

Evidently 9.5 does not yet support Win7 at all.

Looks to me like we may all have to wait a while to use our xfire systems unless we rollback our OS builds.

Really? This is the same 7100 that came out yesterday that we're talking about right?

And are all the versions in question 64bit?

Well I guess I'll find out tonight if it works for me.

Gonna get rid or the Raid 0 set-up I have and use an SSD for the OS and use one of my 250Gb drives for everything else.

hi all im currently running 9.5 beta drivers, i did post em on here before but i dont think anybody trusted em

they are 64 bit and they are meant to work on vista and win7

you do need to mob mod em as well, but i modded them in a separate folder.

if you like i can post the download and what i did to make them work

im on vista 64 by the way not win 7, just thought these drivers may be of some help.
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2WP56V95

and for these to work on win7 you may have to install manually through the divice manager.
and to be honest i think these are the best drivers ive installed on the m17 even tho i only play gtaiv and bf2 it seems better.

well don i clciked your ati score on these drivers: p8400 processor 1x 3870 4gig ram and 160 single hdd i got 8340 or something like that only slightly lower than yours with t9600

also bud when you mob mod them unrar the file and put it into its own folder, i never mob moded them via c/vista ect

i put the files into their own folder then went to mob mod and opend up own folder and mob modded that way, then closed the files down-re opend and clciked the setup file

might make some sense i hope

    Any workarounds?

Also, no matter what driver I attempt to install, windows comes back with "this driver is not compatible with this version of windows" (something like that).

idk what to do anymore... im fresh outta ideas. this seems like a ATI/Microsoft level fkup. i bet it has to do with that retarded GPGPU implementation. what a waste...

    Hi guys,

Ive since gone back to Vista due to this issue. Everything was fine with 7077 but something has definitely gone belly up with 7100.

Ive looked all over for a solution guys and it doesnt look good.
I would suggest going back to 7077 and if you dont have it then download it from TheWindows7site team through IPtorrents. Its a private tracker and if anybody wants an invite then I will assist.(PM only) All these Windows 7 builds are clean compared to some on Mininova that were found to contain trojans.

I found 7077 excellent apart from when I un-plugged my Xbox 360 controller from my USB port the system crashed BSOD stylee.

    I can only find a 32bit of 7106.

Julian - I believe this version is older than the RC(7100) although the number doesnt sugget it.
