No, it's older than RC1, but it's more stable and quick than 7077, may be it's more quick than RC1![]()

guys , have u tried installing drivers in vista mode?
-
sorry ricks but unfortunately the solution isn't so simple. In fact for this laptop every insallation of amd's catalyst pack is a trick with modding .inf file, so we simply don't use any software to use compatibility mode... btw- tried all the ways and now back to x32 7068, will try starforce driver hacked (it's only for x32) to use starforced games =) So thay just gave us time for playing
-
I just installed 7077 and all seems well out of the box, not bad indeed
Will run 3dmark to make sure all is well then will report back
Pete
Update 3DMark runs fine, scored 11'400pts which is about 300 lower then vista -
newest windows 7 version 7127 and the crossfire issue is gone.

i'm looking for it.

You can get it from IPtorrents. If you want an invite just pm me a non-hotmail/aol E-mail address.

Just that everybody who searches for a solution on this problem, Catalyst 9.5 from here can give you CrossfireX Support on your M17 with Windows 7 RC1
Just make sure you use the Mobility Modder

Hello, i've also been having problems with this slave video card not working. (code10) Like the others, I also have been downloading the drivers and even used the modds (all epic fail). Maybe its because Direct X 11 does not like the card...I dont know, get back to me if anyone has fixed this issue, and hook me up with instructions how to fix it please, and thankyou.
-
^are you using the RC version of 7 still? RTM is out, so i doubt anyone is supporting the RC anymore.
-
I guess so, i have windows 7 professional 64 bit runnin. with the lattest updates. How do i update outa of the RC version? explain that to me plz
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
you can't go from EC to rtm on a update you have to do a clean install. I don't have the link on it at the moment.
-
I went from vista 32 bit to windows 7 32 bit, did not read the card....then to windows 7 64 bit...still not reading the card...Should i just send my machine back to alienware?
-
Which card ? What do you mean by not reading ? Not showing in the device manager ? What drivers did you use ? If you are talking about the ATI cards did you use mobility modder before installing the drivers ?
-
Have you tryed the new Windows 7 64bit driver from ATI (no modding needed)
http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx
Greetings
Julian -
I have used the Modder, the ATI drivers i used were the 9.10 version for windows7 64 bit. When you go into device manager, my primery card works, but the slave has the little yellow ! in front of it. I go into properties and it says "device is not working (code10) Went into resources and that says, device is not useing any resources because its not working properly.
thankyou for the help Julian -
Did you try uninstall the ATI drivers, restart, run driver sweeper and delete the devices from device manager, restart, then reinstall the drivers again ?
-
Thats a big negative ghost rider, i'll give that a try tho. Do you think if I were to send this machine into Alienware, they would fix it? or maybe i should just update the video cards to the 4800 series...
Being deployed in Afghan is making it difficult to getting ahold of them...
Is driver sweeper a free program you can get off of filehippo? -
Yeap its free. Sending it in should be the last resort, especially if its a software issue since its a shame not having a computer for 1+month for drivers. Make sure you do the sequence above, needs two restarts
As for the 4850's AW doesnt offer that option anymore (not like they ever did apart from a few days).
ps, make sure you remove both devices (cards) from device manager, screen should look a bit weird after that till you install the new drivers, so make sure you got the drivers ready for installation after the reboot. -
CoolMine, did you have this problem when installing windows 7? or are you still on Vista.
-
Windows 7, installed it about a week ago. The problem i had was, when i tried to install newer drivers than the ones windows installed with the drivers only got installed for just the primary card for some odd reason, so without hesitation i did what i said above and im back to the "Vista performance"
-
Sadly it still did not work...Wont this issue be fixed in time? I mean it is a new OS.
-
Since i didnt hear anyone else having this issue id say its not an OS issue but probably a software/hardware issue on your end.
-
I FIXED IT! I simply went to alienwares site and downloaded the 8.6 drivers for the cards.
I dont think im going to update the drivers since there working correctly. Now im stoked!
I was thinking about buying the M15X, but now that this machine is good to go, i'll skip on it. Maybe wait another 6months to see if any better processers come out for the laptops.
Thankyou very much for your help and advice CoolMine -
mm, odd
Can you link me the drivers you used before the alienware ones ?
-
http://aliendl.alienware.com/Mobile/M17/M17_VGA_ATI_Win7_x64_8.63.09.exe
I hope it works for you. If you do install new drivers after this one, tell me how it goes please.
Its weird, its always the last thing you least expect that will fix most problems...
mm go figure. -
The drivers you used before the alienware ones
Because i already used Catalyst 9.8 and Catalyst 9.10 with success on Win7 so im wondering whats wrong in your case. -
I didn't install any drivers before the alienwares ones. I just used Driver sweeper you provided me with. Then installed the 8.6. the ATI driver 9.10 did not work for me.
-
Did you use mobility modder on the files before you tried installing 9.10 ?
-
im using windows 7 to bud and 9.10 wont install with or without modding the driver.
9.11 does work but im having issues with it @ the mo -
Didnt have any problems installing them, but you have to remember to restart twice cause lots of times you get an error while installing the display driver, no idea why but two restarts seems to fix that issue.
Its strange though that DirkaDirka didnt manage to install any of the drivers apart from the AW ones. -
lol im going to try back to 9.8 once ive finished formatting my fekin external drive 13hrs so far.... nearly their
-
Didnt you like 9.11 ?
-
lol right so far i got
9.8
9.9
9.10
9.11
ati drivers and only 9.11 will work for me the rest wouldnt even install
9.11 i was getting artifact during first boot up with games esc and restarted they seemed ok but i was getting stuttering in pro evo.
had to completely remove ati 9.11 off pc and now im on a/w usa site 4850 drivers which are 9.7 win 7 64bit drivers
i will try and climb the ladder again tomorrow but these drivers seem really finiky on win 7 -
I dont understand why the AW driver worked....i've tried the lattest drivers that windoes provided and the ones from ATI, and none of them took. The CCC never even managed to download.
-
hi dirk bud what system have you got i would be nice for you to put in sig so when we have problems others can see what prozzi gpu ect
what drivers are you using at the mo?
windoes lol drivers ( if you using 4850 cards are 8.7 i think and it dosent like the other slave gpu ( windows 7 )
remove all ati / wondows drivers before install of new drivers ( i had to do this before i could get 4850s the work in vista as well )
http://support.alienware.com/Suppor...rocessed.aspx?os=W764&cat=2&manu=12&item=1221
i used this driver a/w windows 7 64bit for the 4850s -

Alienwares driver from their downloading page,
M17_VGA_ATI_Win7_x64_8.63.09
So far thats the only driver that worked...im unable to build on top of it, meaning the latest drivers from ati will not download, it always stops in the
middle of installing and just stays at 45%.....i left it on for 6 hours and didn't move.
So far this driver seems to be workig just fine. No flickering, no shuttting, my games are back to normal... -
Just thought i'd chip in and certainly on 32-Bit Windows 7 the 9.10's when mobility modded work just fine. Maybe your all using the 64-bit and theres a problem with the 64-bit drivers?
-
yes could be bud im gonna try 9.11 again after then ill know if its my issues or deffo no no for windows 7
-
I"ve heard something about a bio's flash, would that be bad?
-
i dont think it is what you want, your going down the wrong path bud.
what drivers are you trying to install, what exactly is happening.
is this only common to you on ati driver install or is it on other software drivers ect. -
Oh i was just wondering on a option like that.
So far my machine is working just great. Both ATI cards are working, i have dual monitors working, and games are back to normal.
Did you get yours to work at all?
Driver download always stops at 45% it does not go past that
i can never seem to get the 9.10 to install. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
on what system?
-
when i got the AW drivers for ATI 8.6 can i just install the drivers for the 9.10, or do I need to DL 8.7, 8.8 ect ect. ?
-
well crap now i have another problem. I tried to install mass effect and RE 4 but this comes up, The program can't start because d3dx9_30.dll is missing from your computer.
What the heck is that all about. This is frustrating. -
Just reinstall DX10 that should solve your problem
Greetings
Julian -
could you shoot me a sight for a direct download please? and thankyou.
Nevermind, i got it, thanks.
