Super disappointing results, shows how poorly the card scales, and... correct me if I'm wrong... but ONE 8800GTX is showing up that CF rig? Wow, sucks for ATI, and anyone with CF 3870's.

Even if a single 8800GTX is more expensive than two 3870's (which I doubt) it would be worth paying extra for it!

Hopefully the updated drivers on the Crossfire cards will show much better results. Maybe some will release a custom driver sooner or later?

It doesn't suck for me, the best laptop in Vancouver Canada is the one i am using , toshiba x300 with 9700 gts while cost me $1600 on sale which has ****ty CPU and ****ty case.
I bought the M17 with CF for less than 2k. For about $400 difference, I get AW with better CPU and build instead of a Toshi, also 1 HD 3870 > 1 9700m GTS, and i get 2x3870.

Next up is a dell M1730 is 8800m GTS SLI which cost $3k.
Or Eurocom with 1x9800m gts that cost around 2500 after shipping.

So, in every way, M17 is the right choice for me for now. Maybe Asus g71g could be a good deal with 9800m gs with the warranty and stuff. but it's not here yet and i don't know the price in Canada.

I think what he's trying to say is that he expected more performance out of crossfire 3870s, as did I. I'm surprised that a single 8800M GTX would beat it, though admittedly pleasantly surprised for obvious reasons :D. Hopefully better drivers will improve performance. I just think it's a little funny after hearing that one guy, Juicy or something, say how someone got 16k 3dmark06 scores with 3870's.

Farther proof that 3dmark should not be used for a set-in-stone of which card is better, only for getting an IDEA of a card's rank.

LOOKING AT YOU ANYONE WHO HAS A 3DMARK SCORE IN THEIR SIG.

Agreed. Not only that, I don't even think they will even score that high, TBH.

Why not? many many reviews proof it can go that high with the right cpu and o/c. Not stock.

That's what I mean though, stock. I'm expecting around 12-14.5k scores. These are my expectations though, don't get them confused with actual scores. When you all receive your m17's, we'll know for sure.

It actually makes perfect sense. The Mobility Radeon 3870 is roughly about the equivalent of the desktop 3850. They were already behind the nvidia cards at their release. The cards in crossfire are pretty close to the 8800gtx is most games and a little better in games that scale well with crossfire. So your gettiing about the same performance for less money. The drivers will probably get better and squeeze out some extra frames but what you see is about what your going to get. In my opinion these cards are just a stop gap measure until the 4800 series is ready for prime time anyway.

Either way the current crossfire chassis from the various retailers is still the best system on the market for size, durability, and power in one package and it looks the best too.

Same here, but my M17 was 2250$ actually ... how did u get it for 2000$? The only option i chose was Illuminated Keyboard and Dual CF 3870's ... I don't even bother with warranty and cpu upgrade, after warranty expires, i'ma just gonna sell the current cpu and buy another one...
