I have an alienware laptop that I am working on for a customer of mine and his DC jack is broke and I am looking for a replacement but can't find any. I have searched and emailed many companies but havent had any luck so far. I was hoping someone here my be of some help.

Aparently, the M17x-R1 isn't very popular because I can only find very little information on it.

Here is a poor quality pic of the jack but its the best that I have

It has approximately 7-8 metal contacts that goes around the inside of the jack unlike the dell jack. The a/c adapter is model 0405B20220 but it isn't the 4 pin plug. Here is google shopping search of what it is.

The jack is manufactor by Seahorse.

This is about all the information I have at the moment. Thanks in advance to anyone that can give me some advise on where to get the jack.

Have you tried phoning Dell about getting spares?, I've often got spares off of eBay and the odd website around but as the M17x is still quite new i don't think many people have parts for them yet.

For example, http://www.laptopking.com/searhbrandresults.asp?brand=alienware have parts for it but not down to component level like the older models.

Occasionally i've had to buy Beyond Economical Repairs and the like and unsolder components.

However you may be waiting a while with the latter as i think most people take alot of care of the laptop and are less likely to be broken/sold as spares.
