I went to the Dell site, like I regularly do, to check for latest drivers for my M17x, and they no longer recognize my service tag. It has been going on for several hours now, and when I put my service tag in, I get a message that it is not recognized by their system.

I put this in the general Alienware group, because I am wondering if this is happening to anyone else, as it could be happening with other models as well.

Yeah, I guess I will need to. Problem is, calling them from out here, as the phone lines really suck sometimes. Thing is, I have tried it from two seperate systems. Our commercial internet, and the unclassed network as well, and get the same message from both sides. "There was a problem with your submission. Your service tag was not recognized. Please check and try again"

It always cached my tag previous to this, and when I tried to go today, it was no longer cached and asked for it to be entered again. I entered it, and now get this message.

I am also getting this message when I let the Dell website locate my service tag as well.

Now I am a little bothered by this. The systems identifies my laptop as what it is, M17x R2, with a ship date of 4/20/10, but when checking the warranty status, it states "There are no service contracts or warranties associated with this system". Considering I just got my system at the end of April, and purchased the premium warranty for 3 years, this is a little troubling.

I tried to call support, but it is after their normal hours now, so I will have to try it again later.

"There are no service contracts or warranties associated with this system."
"There is no configuration information associated with this system."

So does mine atm, but it happened also in the past so I'm not really worried about it.

Since yours is saying this as well, then I think I will give it another day or so, and test it again. If nothing by Monday, then I will give them a call. Thanks for the assist. Who knows, they may be doing a DB upgrade, or something, causing these things to happen right now.

You will get it, AFAIK, when you get your machine. I know of no way to get it before hand. Sorry.

Well, it is now working again, and showing my warranty status. Possibly some site maintenance going on? If that was the case, a note on the homepage certainly would have been helpful.

I got a notice something like db maintenance days ago when trying to check Alienware laptops Dell outlet days ago, I guess that explains your service tag issue.

    Cheers!

Yeah, I looked all over the front page of the main Dell site, that I use to access my drivers page, and did not find a thing. I may have just overlooked it, but I did look pretty hard. Thanks for that info!

If you are looking to download new drivers use your model number and type of laptop in your case M17x r1 or r2 and check drivers from there.
