Well, this is just a shot in the dark but has anyone tried Doom 3 on an M17?

I have included the images of how it looks on high settings. I figured Ultra High would fix the issue but the game fails to load. I can get to the main screen and menu but it doesn't get passed the loading screen. It crashes saying that Data Execution Prevention stopped the program, and even if I make an exeption for Doom.exe it still crashes.

This only happens when I try Ultra High settings. With High settings it works fine but looks like it is set to lowest settings. Any ideas?

All my games are unrar and play. No installation required, but this is the only one with these graphics (???)

    Thanks fellows

you can try to put on a no cd crack worked for me with quake 4
or change the grafic settings for the resolution from 1920:1200 to 1680:1050
and change from 4:3 to widescreen 16:10

nice background ;) how is the system info called you got on the down right?

    It's samurize.

OK, I will try what you tell me but one question, how would a no-crack cd help with the graphics?

Edit: No, it didn't work changing the settings. Thanks anyway. I wonder what's wrong.

I played Quake 4 some time ago and I had a weird problem as well ... I don't know what it was any more but it was something with the "Ultra High Settings" or the resolution! Every time I tryed to "accept" the changes it crashed^^

Than I only changed some settings and realiced the problem. (Ultra High)
Since than I only used the settings which caused no crash and had a nice time plaing Q4

    Greetings

Yup, like I said, the Ultra High settings shut it down. Windows tells me it's because of "Data Execution Prevention" but again, only when set to Ultra High.

Did you look at the pics? Seriously, do I have to play with those graphics, I mean compare my graphics, with what they are supposed to be like:

My graphics for Doom 3 vs Typical Doom 3 graphics

There has to be a solution! I doubt changing from High to Ultra High has such a dramatic effect. Not to mention this is a 2004-ish game...

But, sry, I don't know more about it, just try to play on high and set everything else on max^^ Normlay it should look better, which driver are you using? (may be my sig can help)

    Greetings

    I use E-wrecked's Bored 9.1 I think.

Well, anyway thanks Julian. Some textures must not be loading I guess.

Edit: I just realized that whether I pick Low settings, medium settings, high settings, the graphics are always the same. Only the screen resolutions change to what I pick. I guess it's not saving my graphics options. Is there a way to do this manually in a .cfg file or something? Any ideas?

Edit 2: OK, something is obviously wrong here. Here is a screen shot of what "low settings" are supposed to look like. Low Settings

    Mine looks nothing like that...

Öhm now after you said that ... I think I had this "saved nothing" bug as well but I think I solved it by just changing one thing ... restarting and looking wheather it was saved or not!

So change something, restart and take a look wheather it is saved or not ( I don't mean loading a game just restart the game and look into the options)

    Greetings
    Julian

edit: I just found this on the Futuremark side ... where is the clue?

Try turing off DEP? Click start, control panel, system, advance setting system, under advance tab, click on Performace (setting) tab. Top tab that says Data Execution Prevention, click on turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select. Go to add tab Find program files and then click on Doom 3. See if that works!

Hi, thanks. DEP off did not work. I mean, it still crashes on Ultra High. But this shouldn't make a difference because even my High settings look way worse than a typical Low settings setup.

Yesterday I noticed that no matter what I pick, low, medium, high, the graphics are exactly the same. The only settings that seem to work are resolution, brightness, and fullscreen.

I wonder what could be wrong.

Oh, and that link didn't help me either. The thing is not saving my settings. Those graphics look horrible. My Crysis, FarCry 2, Grid, Killer Instinct, even my MAME work flawlessly...

I would but honestly, the game is not worth it. I mean, it's one of my favorites but the drivers work flawlessly with everything else so what I am gonna do is try it on Linux. Will post results.

EDIT: Just for the record, I decided to install Doom 3 on my Linux drive and voilà, it worked.
The screen flickers at times (playing Doom 3 in Linux), not a big deal as it is random and not frequent at all. Anyone know a setting I should adjust to prevent this?
