Not sure what your talking about you are lacking info.

I know floppys drives are 2000s tech. I know you can buy a external one. But new laptops we do not use them. In 2001 I had to buy a external floopy drive. Now I use a 16gb flash drive.

Please give us your laptop Spec. The last hard drive I use that use a external hard drive was a amd +3000. After that was a Intel Pro star clevo 3.4 ghz with L3 cache. with a external hard drive that was 5 years ago I beleave.

If you really need a floopy drive get a usb floopy drive. There cheap.

I dont think so. That tech is about 20 years old. With computers and laptop. I have not floppy drives in some time now. The other thing is what will fit in that spot of the Floopy drive?

Computers are always upgrading and getting better.

It like 8 track tapes. When was the last time you seen them.

    You will confuse people

Your main heading says dvd rom drive can be removed by useing switch and you talk about floppy drives.

Floppy drives use disk 3 1/2 I beleave and there magnetic. DVD are like CD and Most can play In CD or DVD players.

there are 2 different sets of ports in the smart bay. one is a battery port and the other is for cd drive or hd drive. i dont think you will be able to put anything in there since it seems like its AW's proprietary connection for smartbay.

i tried to make an understanding of what he was trying to say so i was assuming its a m15x since this is a laptop forum and the m15x is the only AW laptop i could think of that you would want to remove the disc drive for something else.
