    Hello all,

I have a DVD stuck in the slot loading DVD drive on my M15x.
The eject button doesn't eject it and under my computer it doesn't think there is a DVD in the drive.

I have tried rebooting and it made no difference. Also I read the manual and it isn't at all forthcoming with information regarding the optical drive.

There doesn't seem to be any little pin hole for a manual eject so I was wondering if there was some form of key combo to hold down on reboot to send a hardware eject signal directly to the optical drive like on the MacBooks?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks in advance,
    Joe

    Go here

    http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html

scroll to the bottom of the page and click to download "nircmd.zip"

Save it and then extract the contents of the file to someplace easy to type like C:\nircmd

Go to your start menu and type:

    C:\nircmd\nircmd.exe cdrom open D:

Where D: is your DVD drive (so put in whatever drive letter your DVD drive is)

I did it and it made the odd kind of blocked noise a few times and didn't eject.

I'm still stuck here can anyone please advise as to what to do next?

EDIT: I just fixed it XD I ran the above software, then while it was making the kind of jammed noises I gave it a whack with the palm of my hand, the combination sorted it :D cheers, +rep

Glad you got it. Swift kick to electronics is all it needs sometimes. :D Electronics are sadists that away.

Is it working as normal now?

It appears to be back to normal now :)

Ever since I've got it though every few minutes it seems to wake up and spin for a little while. I don't know how these things work but I'm guessing it's caching the info so that things play continuously. Kind of annoying really cause my MacBook never used to do it, it would spin up at the start and be silent for the rest of what ever I was watching.

Still happy it works again :)

I have the same problem and the app you listed did not do anything. Any other idea?
