Hello, I have a alienware m9750 laptop. Til recently i was able to play cds in my dvd drive. The dvd's work fine in the drive. When i put a game cd in yellow light comes on the goes off, after looking in windows explorer at drive it would say " please insert disk" As i said it works with all my dvd games but not cd's. It just started recently. Also I have 2 other desktops that are doing the same thing. So i don't think it can be the drives going bad. If so then its a helluva coincidence for 3 drives to go bad at same time.

the logical explanation is that your CDs are trashed.

well, if it's reading DVDs and not CDs..then likely a media problem. Have you tried a blank CD to see if its recognized?

did you use exactly the same disks to test this, and did you try a variety of CDs in the computers that can't read them?

Maybe whizzo is right and bad discs. Its just funny they work in one of my others and in the m9750 it acts like there is no discs

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your system, see if you are able to create a bootable disk and test it outside of windows. Let us know with the outcome.

    Thanx.
