Sometime ago, a few months, I noticed a dead pixel on my screen, black/dark on a white screen. It annoyed me a lot because first I thought it was a spec of dust, but it was a dead pixel indeed, and once I knew it was there I could see it all the time. After a while I forgot about it, and stopped caring. Then I tried to find it again, and could not, no matter how hard I tried. It seemed to have vanished!
Today, just now, I noticed another dead pixel on the centre-right side of the screen this time. Not a spec of dust but a genuine dead pixel. I shutdown and restarted and it is stull there. Definitely dead pixel.
However I still cannot find the other dead pixel which was centre-left of the screen.
So I am wondering do dead pixels come and go, and is there a clever trick to make them go?
My screen is the AUO 4K

Sometimes pixels aren't dead, they are just stuck. You can go on youtube and look for stuck pixel fixing videos which flash colors to try to unstick it. I've been pretty successful in the past running it. They also have some applications that open a very tiny window that you can move to the specific area so you can continue to use the laptop while it's trying to unstick it.

OK, ty, I have found a "4K untick video", I ran it for 2-3 mins, did not fix it, so will leave it running later when I go to bed. hopefully it will fix it.

Yeah I used to run it for ~12 hours.

Just to say that after the hour long video it is still there. :-(

Bummer, it may not come back. Another thing I've done a couple of times is actually pressing on the pixel, but sadly things can go wrong when doing that. I've only done it a couple of times, and one of those times it worked. You don't want to press too hard and cause additional dead pixels, but you have to press hard enough to "massage" the pixel back. Of course this may not work if you have glass over the screen.

I have also "tapped" it a few times using my finger but no go. I guess I will have to live with it, or replace the screen panel. Would Dell sell me one I wonder? The alternative is to risk my luck with ebay...
