Well Guys, As promised.. here is my review. Unfortunately I don't have a good enough digital camera to have been able to post some pics, and neither do I have a DV cam to give you a video user review, which I would have loved to have done for those of you interested in this thread.

I got home on the 1st of May and since then I've just been totally blown away by my new system.

I just cant get over the fact that this is the most powerful machine I have ever come across. You know, to be honest I was pretty sceptical when I first heard about the M15X. But I desperatley needed a new notebook. I went looking around computer stores looking at all the HP's, Asus, Sony's, then I started looking on line, went to Dell, Rock, and then I suddenly remembered Alienware. And to my surprise I found the M15X. It looked awesome so I did some research joined this forum, and I got one.. I travel a fair bit nowadays and I love to game in my free time. So to me, gaming on a 15inch, instead of lugging about a 17'' beast was just the ticket. Unexpected as well because I thought such a machine had not been created yet.

This forum has been a great help, but what with all the bad posts I have come across, I was kind of dreading what I might encounter when I finally got round to coming home and picking up my new system. But so far, this machine has exceeded what I was expecting.

The performance is incredible... I still cant get over the fact that from the following games, (with crysis being an exception - not that I am bothered much,) the following games I have been playing so far I have maxxed out totally.
That's a technical term for: every single setting set to high or very high. Including AA/AF.

    Half Life 2, Episodes 1 - 2.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R (This has impressed me the most, I thought no way would it be possible to set everything to max and have it not lag.. I am not kidding. It runs like glass. Esp with the WXGA screen. The game actually looks like its worth playing now. :D )
    Battlefield 2, 2142.
    Portal
    TF2
Crysis (I just reckon that its just the codeing in the actual game that makes the performance not perform as well as it should.)

Ok, so now I am just going to give you a quick run down on the rest of the system by marking it out of 5. 5 being the best.

    Starting with the Build Quality.

I checked it all over when I got it and not a scratch, crack, mark in sight.
Very solid build. Cheers to the assembler who's initials are FF.

    5/5.

    Display.

WXGA screen is just wicked. So clear and crisp, bright. No dead pixles, and what screen wobble  No creaks..

    5/5

    Touch Controls.

A nice touch. Gets a bit of getting used to, but no problems at all.

    System Performance.

With the specification that I have, and all the games I have been playing/testing running at max. I can't fault this machine one bit.
Well, Ok.. I admit the speakers on the system do sound a bit tinny, but for notebook speakers I think they do a good enough job. At least they work.. At the end of the day, I'm a gamer. Headphones are my second ears. :D

    5/5

Well guys. If there is anything else that I haven't covered, let me know. And if you need something answering also feel free to give me a shout.

I'm gonna head back to the land of the STALKER now and see what's going down with the Marked One and that other dude..

    Have a good one..

And I know this sounds like an a**e kiss, but I just want to say thanks to Alienware for making the M15X possible.

    D0A.

Hey D0A, is there any screen wobble when you move the m15x? Does the QuickTouch area look cheap up close without AlienFX on? How are the QuickTouch controls, particularly the volume slider? Congrats on your new gaming beast!

Ha! Alright then... But I just remembered that I left it back with my stuff. I return on the 8th, so sometime then.

Yeah I guess the screen does wobble when you move it. But its not dire.

Quick touch controls are fine. Don't look cheap to me. Volume slider gets a bit of getting used to. But its all good.

I feel the same with my desktop. I get so much school work and I'm usually away from home so much I never have time to play through any games. When summer comes, I'm playing every great game I'm missing out on. I'm only on here to get away from geography research without losing track of time playing games ;).
