    The only reason I am not posting this in the what notebook should I get area is because I know I want an alienware laptop, and am willing to spend more money for the name. That being said, I have about $4000 dollars to spend plus an aditional 500 for shiping. What I was wondering though is with my budget what alienware laptop at my budget is best for gaming? The M17 or the M17x?? I hope to play all modern games such as Crysis, Far cry 2 , FEAR 2, plus some mmo's. I know that I can build a desktop for a lot less, but I am never home so that is not an option. Thanks in advance! :D

    you would probably go with the m17x gaming thats my advice since thats their considred flagship gaming laptop

    id say go with M17 with a qx9300, 4gig ram ,crossfire,1200p screen and you will still have 800 left

    Save some bugs and upgrad to 4870 soon .. but with 4k :cool: ... you can nearly buy everything possible :D

    Can I upgrade the cards my self when they become available?? Or will I have to send it in to alienware? Also what kind of gaming could I expect withe the dual 3870's? Thank for all of your help guys! :eek:

    One more thing. If a moderator is reading this, could they change the name of the thread to M17 vs M17x. I have no Idea why the name of my thread has changed to dell 8 hour sale.

    I believe you can install the cards yourself...there's a guide on the AW support site.

    I got my m17 Friday past, so far I've played cod4, codWaW, and Bioshock and it runs all three of them maxed out flawlessly...

    This machine is a beast.

    yes, you can play Crysis at all high on the m17. heck, i think E-wrecked plays at very high at native res with decent framerates.

    humm my m17 plays crysis warhead at 1280 with settings at mainstream with 20-30 the first level is that normal?
