    Hi all

Sorry to cut in, but I see You mentioning M17 stutter issue second time... Whats that? I don't seem to notice it on my rig. Why do You consider M17 unstable?

And I would like to see 4870 finally coming out, thank you.

    Cheers

    Luke

I guess I got my m17x at the right time. Last completely original Alienware: Alienware desighned Chasis, case etc.

    Wow,

I've never looked at it that way. Even my "old" M9750 is a post Dell takeover laptop.

Guess I've never owned a purely Alienware rig.

Cool, doesn't make a difference to me anyway.

I have to agree with SneakyFspy on this one to a point, think there is and has been a lot more going on with the Dell takeover than any of us know about.
And Rob the sky may not be falling for you, but I am sure the ex employees of Alienware Athlone don't feel the same considering the current economic climate in Ireland. Have to say I dealt with TS and their Critical issues team and am sorry to hear that they are all gone. Not looking forward to contacting the new team from what I'm hearing on here :(

I agree with that, but in terms of Graphics they have yet to offer gtx 280m or 4870s. I suppose is if Alienware wanted to be the best or at least current high end gaming maker, they should have been the first to offer 280m or 4870m's in their laptops.

Also, Clevo is going to be the first to offer i7, not alienware. I suppose my expectation is that in order to be the premium line of gaming pcs by dell, then they should get the newest technonogy first...not months and months down the road. This is why i say they are behind. Dell certainly has the resources to push for the newest technology in their systems.

Other companies are developing and producing the newest technology months before alienware gets ahold of it. I remember when i first heard about alienware that they were always on the forefront of the technology loop. They had the fastest and best and had it before anyone else. This is not necessarily the case (I believe because of Dell) anymore. Otherwise, I might consider buying one for something other than the chassis and name.

If you had been a member a little longer you may have read several comments made by me expressing my heartfelt sympathy and condolences for the unfortunate employees who lost their jobs.

Only time will tell how the Alienware brand will fare after Dell gets done. I will make all my decisions based on what product is offered.

AW does not build there laptop they re brand and some time get exclusive contracts

AW is in fact getting 4870's ddr 5 and has them but they are having issues with heating other wise im sure they would love to release them ... for this thing called money

also it is my understanding ASUS make propriety cards for there Asus they were over clock 4850's ... not the 4870's ATI planned
ATI always wanted true ddr5 4870's if AW wanted to release 4870s with ddr3 they could have.

every one blames stuff on AW ... they dont design the laptops ..... they can decide what to put in them and they are at fault for that but they are not just a xoticpc type laptop make choose every thing you get a SPECIFIC laptop with certain parts ....

they do not make their own parts and have no control if the 4870's over heat or not or designing the new core i7 chipset they dont have what clevo has

I suppose they might, but unless I see it, I have to assume it's either PR or speculation. I would be first in line if they offered the ddr5 version. Might be enough to take my eyes of the m980.

Hopefully they'll get really creative with new heat pipe assemblies soon.
