So I ordered my Alienware M17x-R2 on feb.21st and I payed using PayPal which Dell took the money out of my account when I purchased the Alienware. Then on mar. 4th for some reason, all of the money dell took out of my PayPal account for the computer got put back in my PayPal account. Did Dell make a mistake and give me my money back? I called dell and just asked about my order and they said everything is fine with my order. I read something here saying that when you pay using paypal, dell will take the funds or freeze them and then later on return the funds and wont actually take your money until the computer ships. Any thoughts on this?

yes, this is true....Its a pre-authorization. The funds are verified that they are available but not actually transferred until the item ships. Most companies are required to do this as in some states its not legal to charge the card until the item ships or they have confirmation of delivery. It should be fine...Even without using paypal the pre-authorizations fall off credit cards and the funds usually become available again before the item ships. When it is ready to ship they then ticket the sale which completes the transaction and moves the funds over to them. (I am a GM for a large retail company and have loads of experience with this...)

Dell messed up. They meant to forward your money to me. You can go ahead and send it on over, I'll be waiting.

Ok, so dont spend the money they gave back for my order or else the computer wont ship right? Because they will go to pull the funds and they wont be there?

Right. Just make sure you leave at least as much money as the system costs on your account and you'll be fine.

I had a small issue on it it. Basicly I have a 2k Limit on my account per Day. So a good idea if you have this call the credit card while in Boxing Stage.
