Officially Dell's website says Accidental is included with the "Advanced Service Plan"

Learn More: Service Plans | Dell

    ADVANCED

To protect your investment against real-world hazards such as drops, spills, power surges and other accidents, Dell recommends purchasing the Advanced Service Plan which includes Accidental Damage Service4. Repairs can be expensive and this plan is designed to help you avoid those expenses.

    INCLUDES ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE SERVICE.

I have been emailing Dell back and forth and they are saying that is WRONG and you must pay for it separately!!

    Direct from Dell Rep:
    Nevertheless, we work like this:

    1 Year Warranty = $xxx
    2 Year Warranty = $xxx
    3 Year Warranty = $xxx
Without accidental damage (or Complete Care as we call it)

    1 Year Warranty = $xxx + $xx
    2 Year Warranty = $xxx + $xx
    3 Year Warranty = $xxx + $xx
    Including accidental damage

It would be added on top, but it lasts for the full length of the warranty extension

EDIT More proof that Accidental is covered under advanced: http://www.dell.com/content/topics/...s/learn_more_adv?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~tab=2

I just don't get it. I just want to get Advanced but I am being told Advanced with accidental is $857~

Are you trying to extend the warranty? Do you want 4 years complete care in total?

    Complete care is different...

Please re-read what I said. The 800$ quote I was given was for 3 years total. The links I posted say accidental is included with Advanced or premium.

Big companies will be disjointed like that...

its pretty hilarious. The warranty page reads "The Advanced Service Plan combines the Basic Service Plan with Accidental Damage Service" right under the first heading.

Trust the website over the sales rep. If the site is wrong, you have a strong legal case against Dell. Speak with another rep or a supervisor. I have Advanced plan and bought it because of the accidental coverage. Haven't used it yet, but if they told me I wasn't covered, I'd be threatening legal action.

This, If the r3 re-launch as taught us anything we know that Dell has no company communication and their reps are absolutely clueless about half of what they talk about (See: Every rep giving a different release date or making up different excuses as to why they aren't out)

I was actually on the phone with one at the beginning of the recall, got some girl who said "Ohhh ahhh an m17 our best model! ...Whats that? Why are the new ones gone? Because... umm... ahh... the new sandy bridges will like basically cause the computer to DISINTEGRATE!"

LVNeptune, did you ever get this straightened out? I ask because I have a warranty coming due and would like to have the info on hand before I call.

The reason I asked if u want 4 years or 3 years is to compare to the quote I got. $500 for 3 years total, complete care. Plus $75 gift card.

As I know, complete care = basic warranty + accidental damage

And, advanced warranty = limited hardware warranty + accidental damage

What the Dell rep meant might be that you have to pay separately for the limited hardware and accidental damage. That will show up separately on your order details.

Dont worry about that. Advanced means u're "fully" covered. (not thiefs, disasters.. though)

Is it against forum rules to post correspondance between reps if I blank out their names or what is the rules on that? And NO, this never got resolved. I spent $230 on a Square Trade warranty and they normally pay out your purchase price instead of repairing the unit, especially in this case. I would, at this point probably never purchase another Dell/Alienware because of this entire fiasco. In 2-3 years when the unit dies, I say WHEN, not if. I see failured on electronics ever-increasing in the last 2-3 years, I will put the $3,000 towards a better machine.

Is it a Square Trade warranty or one through Dell? I never liked paid warranties. I always assume they don't want to pay out and will make it so hard for me, it's better to just never pay and expect things to break/fail and pay for it myself (and cheaper after 3 years!)
