well that was quick

yes, saw it GRB. oh and someone was saying the have never seen a 17inch under 10lbs. is the 5793 (laptop with orange trim) not only 8lbs?
-
The Sager NP5793 is ~8.35lbs

@Kissarmy
You CAN get the X9000 (over the phone) and it'll cost you £450 and you can upgrade the HDD yourself I had a chat with dell rep yesterday. The BR is an option as well.
I'm still keeping my options for the m1730 open but it's way ugly.
-
Ugly or not, it has proven to be a solid foundation. If the M15x issues don't make you step back and say "well I will wait a bit" nothing will.
I would wait to see all the reviews FROM USERS before I would consider a M17x.
So far to me the User REVIEWS have been the most unbiased yet. I have read alot of corporate reviews. It seems none have had the time, nor energy to really test what matters. -
yes, like some german review that i read, said that it was a bit dissapointing that they did not have the ability to make the keyboard strobe, even though tat is a main feature.
while im on that note, is it possible to set the m15x lighting system to interact with certain games? or is this just a feature of the m17x.
also, does anyone know what games interact with it? -
i'm sure they will add it to the m15x i'm sure its just a feature of the command center.
-
-
i hope so. that would be one of the greatest show off features in a lan match.
-
At the first press release of the alien FX lighting system, it was stated that both the m15x and m17x would recieve cool feature updates to the command centre. -
Yeah but as of right now, the M15x doesn't have that feature is what I mean. And I don't know about the M17x since I haven't really researched about that system yet, so I don't got that info.
-
I know the M1710 had it, but do the M1730 lights also still sync with music/games? I would be surprised if they didn't...
-
Yeah GRB the 1730 does support it.
-
I think the engineers at AW have enough on thier plates. I am sure once things calm down they will add that feature. Maybe with an update to the Control Center.
-
They will add it but only if we ask them too. If we don't talk about it then why should they even think about it.
-
-
i myself would feel embarassed if i worked at AW in the engineering devision. I know its not their fault that the system was released unready, but how long has it been since release now? 4months? and still they can get it to work as its supposed to do with its basic features, let alone add anything new.

Oodle-Bear Alienware Mug, Testpilot
I guess there's a good thing to come out of Dell's apparent XPS losing/gaining scenario, if they are still producing the 1730, Alienware has competition for pricing (especially in the uk), even if it's within the Dell empire...
"Use the force" Alienware...

Even though Dell is not dropping the XPS line they are as far as I can tell, investing more money into Alienware which can only be a good thing for us. Hopefully they will hire more people so we can get some quicker updates.
-
It always cracks me up how these big corporation say we are investing money into this company blah blah blah. Why not invest it in the personnel they already emply. Or better yet just invest that money in more well versed employees.
I have worked for many many huge corporations, and they always seem to forget the key to success the persons performing th task. They need to educate and train the employees they have. AW's problems aren't just finacial they really need to do some in house training. Ever cal normal CS. Sorry but most of us here know more about General Computer hardware.
