Dell's new XPS line looks pretty strong. I'd probably get the 17" one for sure if I could get it with at least a GTX 460 (it tops out at a still respectable 144 core GT 445).

But...where are the new GPUs for the M15 and M17? Why the heck don't they at least offer the GT 445, if they're not offering the GTX 460 or better?

Surely they can't be far away?

Annoyingly Dell doesn't seem to be shipping spare PSUs for the new XPS systems yet.

It's an interesting find but it's all plastic, the design is really bad compared to the M17X and the screen only comes at 900p which I would never consider.

There is no doubt that for real gamers the new XPS is not an option.

Well, I prefer the screen's resolution, it's NOT all plastic (not that that should matter in and of itself), and basically for me the difference with the M17x is just the GPU options. I just hope Dell gets at least a GTX 460 in their M15/17x lines soon. Right now I'd prefer the GT 445 over what they actually offer in them.

Surely it's got to be soon...

I'd still take a 5850/5870 over anything but the 470/480m.

RGB LEB on the 15". We're probably gonna see that as an option on the M15x R2 and USB 3 too. Perhaps even 2x HDD or maybe even 4xRAM slots. :D

The video card options on the XPS line seem kinda weak...But I guess they had to keep it that way to prevent overlap with the Alienware laptops.

They're a huge jump up from what the Studio ones were shipping with at least-I feel like Dell FINALLY has a low/mid range notebook that's worth looking at-to me they haven't since they bought Alienware :-/

But where are the updates! :-D I'd order something today...

Oh yeah. Just forget the JBL. I have a Studio 17 latest model here and the JBL sounds crappy.

    I don't like the design.
It does look very professional when the lid is closed, but when it's open I hate how there's a space in the back..
Plus all the ports are placed near the back, even the audio in/out.. I don't get it :S
The keyboard looks good though, better than the one I use at that moment [M15x]
Besides I like Dell's idea to keep the product line simple: Inspiron; for the average joe. XPS; for the professional look and powerful media station. And Alienware for the gaming and style!
I just hope these new powerful XPS will push the M15x/M17x even further in the quest of performance! :D

Probably waiting for SB before making the AW refresh. I would hate to see an AW refresh, only to see it outclassed by Clevo and ASUS in in the middle of it's lifecycle.

I don't see why it's so hard to slap at least a 460 in there, and then later update to Sandy Bridge...and is it just me, or does Sandy Bridge seem SUPER lame for a supposed tock? I've got to think it's because they're wasting all these transistors on worthless Intel video :-/ Oh well, I guess it's still a bump, so long as they're all quads...

    The XPS ad should read,

"PURCHASE THE NEW XPS FOR YOUR MID-LEVEL GAMING NEEDS...

It looks ok but again has mid level written all over it. I do like the cpu choices for the machine.

<edit> OMG $225 to get rid of optimess graphics! You gotta be kidding me. $225 to upgrade from the nvidia 435 to 445... Wow... step away from the keyboard... <end edit>

i feel like the design of the new XPS is just like..a complete copy of the HP envy series. I could honestly mistake one for the other from the pics i've seen on dells site.

. We need a alienware 13. Not a netbook, but just a ultraportable gaming house. Same sorta sized enclousure as m11x, but with a HARDCORE IPS display.

a alienware ultraportable is supposed to be heavier than others, but it makes up for it with great battery life, and performance, and its perfect size.(13'').

13'' is the ideal size. Just look at the amount of people who buy Macbook Pro 13'' and use it for gaming. Almost nobody have the dough to buy something crazy like a Vaio Z(which is also like 3-4 hours.. a bit underwhelming).
