Your customer number, the one that they link to your financing the new system and the old system. All you need to do is contact your support rep, whoever got the new system for you. Ask them if you need to send it back, you never know if they say keep it then do it, if not they will tell you to send it back and help you get a return tag for shipping.

Yes you signed an agreement for the first laptop, but they cover their butts with the fine print. I don't know exactly where it is but once you sign for that second laptop you agree to return the first one or be charged for it and pay for it. I asked my rep if I could keep the second laptop, she said no it had to be returned, I asked if I paid for the value of it based on the condition it was in if I could keep it. All she said was it needed to be returned within 10 days unless I was told other wise or upon the 10th day I would be charged full retail, if that happened and it was not paid I would have all account access locked including service and warranty related things, and that it would be forwarded to their collection department. Unfortunately unless they tell you that you can keep it you have a lot more to lose than win, and there is no doubt you would lose. Really it's not worth the headache, ask if you can keep it once just in case and if they say no just send it back. You're getting a computer worth more/better performance than what you had so be happy with that if they say no.

Simple, bottom line is this..Your new UP GRADED system is replacing your old one you signed for. :D And the price and payments agreed by you will reflect on the new system once they receive the old one back. So if no old system is received by them with in the 10 days you will be charged for both  Question, why would you expect or even consider they would give you, what you have been complaining about for so long. They need the old one for R&D I 'am sure.

No problem on my part, that's what we're here for. I think we all wish we could keep both the old and new system even if the old one may have problems. :-( But unfortunately Dellienware doesn't work that way, and I can understand why, they'd be out of business if they always did 2 for 1's on computers this expensive. But hey the new ones will be awesome! :-D

They will usually call you I know I got a letter in the mail about sending the old one back before I got the new one, so they remind ya but it's easier to just ask on here. :-D I'm now irritated at another company FEDEX. The guy that has my package on his truck was a block from my house when I left this morning, and it still hasn't been delivered or even attempted to deliver. They have 2 more hours before I get mad again. RRRGGGHHH I want my friggin computer!

Are you asking for a CPU benchmark program, or just a program to check and see what the cpu is and what it is doing? If you want a benchmark there's a lot I like Maxon Cinebench R10 or 11 I also like Wprime as well. If it's just monitoring I like CPU-Z or HWinfo32. As far as GPU goes I think that 3DMark06/Vantage are the best for benchmarking, and GPU-Z for monitoring(CPU-Z will also give you GPU info too).

And a couple questions for you guys who have already got your R2's does the keyboard feel softer and less solid when pushing keys compared to your R1's? And do the hinges feel softer/less resistance when opening the screen as well?

It doesn't really feel much different weight wise to me, maybe a bit different but probably just from different internal components. It kind of threw me off when I set it up cause it felt so different. It seems friggin awesome, now I'm going to bench the heck out of it when I get home to make sure it's stable! And the fun starts!!!

Yeah it didn't seem like a problem, just different and wanted to make sure it was the same with the other systems to make sure it wasn't a problem. It's working well so far, that AlienBreed theme is pretty cool. Can't decide if I want to go back to Rocket Dock or stay with that.

With your specs it looks pretty good, the easiest way to tell if your cpu, gpu, etc is most likely stable is run the benchmarks we told you to run and if it doesn't crash/bsod/freeze and the results look normal then you're good. If it crashes/bsod/freezes or gives you really low results then something is wrong.

well i have an update... dell sent me the upgrade parts as promised. they sent an onsite tech to install them and then hit the fan. the tech installed the new blueray burner and after the put the laptop backtogether it didnt power on. instead of takeing the drive out and putting the old one back in he took it apart agian to check all the connections and still nada.. no power. so i called the guy from corp that was helping me out and he had him install the old dvd burner back in the laptop and boom.... it had power. so i guess the burner is doa... no problem cuz there sending me a new one. the that pissed me off is that my 5870 will not work in crossfirex but, but it works in single card mode. so i open the laptop up check the xfire cables and sure enough the dumb tech broke a connector on the cable. i called the guy from corp again and he shipped me out a new secondary card cuz thats the one that has the cable. so lets she what happends tomm when he tries to install it again lol.

Well very good news so far, all the benches are over what most people are reporting and it has remained stable and cool so far. I never once spiked over (cpu)68, (gpu)84 degrees C on any of the tests at all including the OC even without a lappy cooler. Here are the results. 3DMark06: 13500 Marks, SM2.0-5524, HDR/SM3.0-6538, CPU-3391. WPrime32:17.638sec. Cinebench R10:10431. Unigine Heaven Bench 2.0: FPS-18.1, Scores-455, MinFPS-11.2, Max-37.3(all settings at full max).
All tests ran at Native Res, with 100% stock settings including all the background junk.

I also managed to get a stable OC of 1.98GHz up from the 1.73GHz stock!(back to stock now)
So all in all I am very happy with the system, the only problem I've had is the HDD makes a loud clunk noise when booting up but I don't think that will be hard to get another new HDD.

Thanks Alienwolf, you're one of the people that helped a ton when I first came in here so thank you, so much. The temps are lower only cause it's a non-extreme cpu a step down from yours, I'd still take higher temps to have that 920xm any day! LOL I do have to wonder though if the GPU related scores might be just a tad low, I seem to remember getting a bit better out of my G73jH with the same card. Huh either way not too worried about it, finally happy.

But did he say the day you got the original system, or did he say he got you an extension from the day you received the replacement? Standard policy even on replacements is the warranty goes from the day you received the original purchase to 1,2,or 3 years after. For example my original purchase was 09/2009 so unless I pay to extend my warranty it runs out 09/2010. You may want to verify that, as the reps tend to be "semi sneaky" on the terms they use.

Your warranty will be from when you 1st purchased your notebook not when you received your replacement.

You can check your warranty on the dell website, just put in your service tag and it will tell you how much warranty you have left.

Yes it will carry over, I just want him to know that unless a special approval is made -or- you purchase and extended warranty, that the warranty does not start over the day you receive the replacement. Whatever was left of the warranty on the old system is what you have on the new system, unless one of those two things are done.

I always run these: WPrime both 32(speed) and 1024(stability), Maxon Cinebench R10 and R11.5, Benchmark Heaven 2.0, PCMarkVantage, 3DMark06, 3DMarkVantage, and various game based benchmarks especially Crysis. If you run those(most can be had for at least a free trial) you should get a good idea!
