I'm in need of a system image from a 2015 17 R3 that includes the recovery partition. Alienware doesn't offer system images and they suggested I ask around on forums. I'm in search of an image because my 17 R3 shipped with the wrong SSD. Alienware shipped me a replacement but neglected to mention that it would be a bare drive. They also shipped a recovery drive but they neglected to mention that it was nothing more than a bone stock copy of Windows 10 devoid of any Alienware drivers, utilities, etc. that come installed when they ship you a newly built machine. If anyone has a stock image I'm willing to offer reasonable compensation. I don't want to come across as rude but I'm really not interested in going through a back and forth with people trying to diagnosis what they think the issue could/might be. I appreciate the attempts to help but it's not the kind of help I seek. So if you don't have an image to offer, please don't clutter this thread with comments.

Call them, ask them to ship you a USB drive that creates all the partitions and installs windows using the SLIC that the laptop has, and tell them to make it priority shipping or have someone deliver it tomorrow in person. Thats what I did once.

As I wrote above, "Alienware doesn't offer a USB drive with anything other than a stock Windows build." I've verified this via online chat, phone calls, and their social media teams. There's no way of getting a stock image from Alienware. There was an option for just such a scenario with past Alienware laptops but apparently they no longer offer it. I find that to be absolutely ridiculous but it is what it is. Hence the reason I'm here asking.

Call them and say the harddrive you got didn't have windows. It was part of what you paid for, or ask for a refund. You will get a full refund, and for your time, you should demand a discount when placing the exact same order back.

What if I send you a USB drive with windows on it.... would that help ?
With your service tag I can help you figure out what drivers install first, and we can make our own drive image, maybe use something like AOMEI and create a recovery partition/drive to quickly load the image whenever you want to re-install etc...

Anything else someone can do to help, because I do not think you will find what your looking for, exactly, very easily.

Here's the thing, I've been through all this and that's why I wrote "I don't want to come across as rude but I'm really not interested in going through a back and forth with people trying to diagnosis what they think the issue could/might be. I appreciate the attempts to help but it's not the kind of help I seek. So if you don't have an image to offer, please don't clutter this thread with comments." I'm not interested in anything other than an exact image of what is on the SSD/hard drive of an Alienware 17 R3 (2015) when it's shipped.

You were given a solution, you do not like it. The other options you have is put the old HD in and do a backup of it or send the laptop back to dell and have them replace the drive.

    1. I wasn't given any solution. I was offered something that doesn't address or solve my issue!
    2. If I had the original drive I wouldn't be asking for an image. I'd simply clone the original drive.
    3. Sending the laptop back isn't an option because Dell/Alienware can't install a hard drive with the OS. They simply don't have them. All they can provide is a bare drive and a stock copy of Windows. Since finding myself in this position I've found that this issue has been covered to death on other Alienware forums. The machines come from their supplier with the OS installed already.
    4. My machine is past its return date and isn't broken, at least not in any way that the warranty covers, so the only way to get a stock machine is to get a new machine. And quite obviously I'm not going to buy another laptop just to clone its drive and send it back.
    5. Alienware tech support suggested I ask around the forums to see if anyone has an image that they made of their system.

So, these are the reasons I am here asking the community if anyone has an image! These are the reasons I don't want to get caught up in back and forths with people offering fixes! I've tried them all! I simply need someone with an image!

Since you obviously have access to the internet I don't see what the problem is....install stock Windows 10 and go to dell support and download the drivers and utilities like everyone else does....

I hate to break it to you but they have NEVER given out DVD's with all the drivers pre-installed in Windows, they came with driver disks that you still have to use after Windows was installed. The only thing you might be missing in the end us a fancy Alienware start up/shut down screen and maybe an icon or two.
