It looks utterly amazing. I just got done watching the media and gameplay footage and I'm speechless. D3! Woohoo! Anyway, look very closely at the 3d engine as they zoom in and pan out. I'd be willing to bet a very close variant is being used to make a Diablo MMO within Blizzard. Just a hunch. Game looks great!

i think this goes into the gaming section but never the less once this comes out i dont know how much time i will be wasting on this game. well unless it goes p2p. never a fan of paying monthly for a game.

what i find amazing is that they are actually developing this for mac and windows.

Yeah, but I can't see them shunning all the classic D2 fans by making it p2p, there are so many people just waiting for this game that probably wouldn't play it unless bnet remains free.

im guessing it will probably be like guild wars where you form your parties in towns and then you go out to whereever you want. If it plays like guild wars it can remain like how d2 used to play.

I want them to do a new Dungeon Keeper game. Dungeon Keeper 2 was very amusing. I've got the dungeon master soundbyte "messages from distant realms await your attention" as my Outlook incoming mail alert! :)

I like the Guildwars style, but I'm interested in the Guildwars 2 proposed style in which the game is only semi instanced, whatever that means...

    Dungeon keeper 2 was awsome.

The M15X should be able to handle D3 without a hitch!

i just finished watching the game play trailer. the witch doctor seems like the new necro class? i still hope there will be a dedicated necro class where i can walk around letting my dead do everything like in d2. i remember those days when i had my 53 minions and then everyone started lagging because there was too much on the screen. The game play looks so fun.

i think they will add a monthly/yearly fee to battle.net and turn it into a Steam/Xboxlive hybrid... this game will cost u trust me they know they can earn literally billions from it like wow.

WOTLK this November.. Starcraft 2 some time next year and Diablo 3 in 2010/2011 i think is a safe guess.

i would expect expansion 3 for wow (the one after WOTLK) to come out before Diablo3..

This has been in the works for so long I imagine, I can't believe how good Blizzard is at keeping secrets. I think the witch doctor is sort of like a mix of the druid and necro, I'm sure we'll see the classics returning though.

Yea, it should be free. All bnet games are free unless they plan on changing something with the new bnet that's due to be released with Starcraft 2, but I doubt it. This isn't meant to be a cash cow for them like WoW. In fact, after watching the live stream from the WWI today, I got the impression that they've been working on D3 ever since the end of the D2 LoD expansion which would have predated any of the wild success that WoW would have gotten. They had a panel of the developers answering questions and one of the people from the crowd asked them if they were trying to make the game for WoW players or D2 players or both? He seemed a little thrown off by it and said that they were just trying to make a fun game and didn't worry about any of that. He thought there was plenty of room to go around for fun games. Coop seems to be a big focus and they seemed pretty excited about the new bnet coming up and the types of connectivity it would provide. They are providing a deep story but he said it will be like WoW in that it's there if you want it but they won't force you to read pages and pages of text in case you want to click past everything. Let's see what else I can remember...

    -Destructable environments,
-mums the word on any of the classes other than witch doctor and barbarian.
-They will have maximum of 5 classes.
-One guy asked if the witch doctor was supposed to replace the necromancer from D2 and he said that they didn't intend that at all. The dev said that the necro was a very cool character from D2 and they don't see the witch doctor as too similar or a replacement in any means. He didn't say whether there would be a necro or not though.
-Dev said that they were aiming for fast action paced rpg in very much the same spirit of previous diablo's. They are forgoing potions and using health and mana drops from killed mobs. He said they tried having a halo shield/health regen system but found that players were retreating from action to get back health and that wasn't what they wanted. They wanted players to WANT to kill stuff and keep moving forward, so they used this system which provides incentive to kill additional monsters. They didn't want the frenetic potion drinking like in D2 when you were in really hard fights. They thought that was a cop out to a really challenging fight and so they want to provide a different system.
-They said they haven't really decided on whether they wll provide map editors and things like that. The lead dev said it was very hard to "drop in" content in the diablo series and so he didn't know if that was going to be a focus yet for them or not.
-Guy in the crowd asked what they were going to do about bosses dropping loot and the closest person getting all of it if you were part of a coop group online. Another dev answered with the system they have in place which drops loot for every player but only the player can see their own boss loot.
-No Dx10 is planned at this time and the lead dev said they prob won't have support for it unless something dramatic changed. He didn't seem that concerned with dx10 in diablo 3.

After watching the D3 developer panel presentation, I listened pretty closely and there was absolutely no hint that D3 was anything other than a follow up by blizzard to D2. They didn't hint that bigger plans were in place for a future MMO or anything of that nature. I will say that the gameplay videos show panning in and out of scenes that looks like an engine very capable of building a next gen MMO in the diablo universe but as I said before I don't really know if this is possible or even smart. Diablo really is about light vs dark and angels and demons. It's hell on earth with grisly and bloody environments so I don't really see how they could make a "PG" rated MMO for the masses in the D2 universe. Maybe that leaves WoW2 or an MMO Starcraft, who knows.

Anyway, the game looks amazing and it should blow every other isometric action rpg out of the water when it comes out. They seem really concerned with providing a fun cooperative multiplayer experience. Oh, and they said groups would probably only be as large as 4-5 players because any more people than that just gets very chaotic. No word on any other platform support. Ok, that's it.

I get real choppy sound when playing either the cinematic teaser or the gameplay video (m9750). I have audio issues in Crysis as well, but at first I figured that was because this game was so demanding it was somehow taxing the sound card. Now I'm wondering if something is up with my sound drivers. I used those on the Alienware CD as well as the most recent from the stickied thread.

I have the same problem with external speakers BTW.

EDIT : It seems to be the exact same problem that was mentioned here, so I'll resurrect this thread instead of hijacking this one.

Back on topic, I'm really psyched about this game finally coming out. I was crazy enough to beat Diablo II on the Hell Difficulty level so needless to say, I can't wait for the 3rd installment!

I wonder what kind of additions we will see to PvP. I would LOVE a great team v team free for all type deal. Hopefully it will be shadowbane-esk PvP...cause that is by far the best kind there is.

Guildwars PVP is considered one of the best actually, and it is really good for what it is, however the skill style is different so it might not carry over exactly.

I still haven't finished the Eye of the North expansion for Guildwars. I gotta jump on that sometime in the near future. With all the D3 craziness lately, I'm having serious thoughts of playing Titan Quest again. I never got the expansion and they have it pretty cheap on Steam at the moment.

Super excited about Diablo 3 :D
They announced it would simultaneously be released on Mac - no word on consoles tho..
Oh and the storyline is kinda funky - It's 20 years since Diablo 2 and everything that happened in Diablo 1 and 2 is now seen as legend/myth.
Loving the new environments - Colourful & bright tho not harsh on the eyes.. Accentuates the action/skill attacks..
And - The Witch Doctor's Zombie Wall ?! Destructible enviros ?! Class-specific loot ?!

There's a torrent for the 19 min Gameplay video if you guys want:
    Low-Res (608x352) 80Mb
    High-Res (720p) 800Mb
    And the Cinematic Trailer:
    Only one so far 50Mb

Tbh Diablo 3 just looks like D2 with upped graphics and some new classes...nothing spectacular or revolutionary new about it. But guess it is to early to say at this point..

Was titanquest any good? i heard a lot of bad reviews about it, how is the story line in it?
