I sent in my M15x because it wasnt able to come out of sleep mode and also go into stealth mode. I sent it in for repairs and now im checking it out with the battery in it, when I touch the stealth button nothing even happens, when I goto sleep mode it will come out of sleep mode and that works but then none of the touch buttons work... Is there a way to test the stealth mode I want to make sure im doing it right before I call Alienware and demand a Full Refund. Thanks for the help in advance.

does the light get bright or dim on the stealth button (touch sensitive buttons) when you touch it? and is there any confirmation on the screen when you touch the button? like the little box that pops up as soon as you touch one of the buttons. and have you also tried to go into the power settings and change the stealth mode option from there?

if you have any graphics demanding games, while playing them touch the button, and if there is lag then its in stealth mode, if nothing happens then its not.

No offense but you're over-reacting. This sounds like a software problem and nothing more. Listen to the advice given to you by Ricky S, and answer the questions if you want to get anywhere.
Whining never helped anyone, it only makes you look bad and embarrasses the rest of the Alienware owners in this forum.

Secondly - anyone who doesn't have constructive advice, don't post. I also have the ability to go into any forum here, find a complaint, and then start posting "oh this company sucks".

    Give me a break.

+1 to your post chaz. Honestly you are going to have to send it back to them again. I know it sucks but for some reason I have horrible service with Alienware (I think I am just extremely unlucky :( ).

In addition, try doing a fresh install of Vista as well as installing the bios updates for the touch controls and GPU donwclocking issue.

No the touchbutton for the stealth mode does not work.
How do I check if they installed the latest bios?

BTW ... Im not sending Alienware my laptop again. They only thing im sending them is a nice email and a phone call stating my situation and what will happen to them if they dont compensate me somehow.

I cant wait till monday to speak to Roswell, theres gonna be a lot of yelling going on...

Not to mention that these aren't very major issues. I rarely ever use the touch button panel, maybe that's just me. I have a feeling you might just be doing something wrong. What BIOS are you running and wasn't there a BIOS update that increases touch button responsiveness? Although, you should have that already since your m15x is relatively new.

Yelling gets you nowhere and/or hang up on. Don't buy from Alienware because your touch button panel isn't working?

@Shake and Bake - All I can tell you is that I warned you but honestly none of you guys here really take my words into consideration.

Good luck getting a replacement because that wont happen. In addition no one will be interested as your computer hasn't been send back 3 times in a row (lemon law policy). Sorry man but you're going to have to send it in again.

Whats another way that I can save alot of battery life without using the stealth mode?

Its the principle, I spent $2600.00 on this laptop and the major button (Stealth ) doesnt work. You think SONY would have a problem like this? You think Sony would send you back a laptop with the same issues after sending it in for repair... NO F-N WAY

Shak - Nothing will work. You have to give them 3 attempts at least.

I always thought the touch buttons not working after sleep mode was a known minor issue?

Do you want to know my fix?
Basically enable Hybrid Sleep and then let it sleep - turn it back on, then press the power off again, and then turn it back on and it will be a hibernate screen, after that it works fine - never have problems with touchpad ****ed.

Do the other Touch buttons work?
Check to see if OSD is installed.
I would recommend a clean install of vista, and a full format of the C: drive.
Make sure you install the drivers in the correct order.

No offense but, you seem to be having a lot of small problems and are really over-reacting to each and everything. We see a post on anything and anything that could possibly be wrong or go wrong at any given moment from you.

Are you sure you even know how to work the stealth mode button?

Look its a beautiful laptop, and its hardware is excellent, but when I press on stealth mode, nothing pops up to confirm its on, the light on the touchpad does not get brighter either, not only that usually in class I like to put the laptop on sleep mode to save battery power but when I do it it wont go back to windows it just a balck screen... I sent this to Alienware so that they repair it , and its the same exact way I received it back from them

i see both sides of this very clearly especially since I'm currently going through shakenbake's ordeal personally.

The features that aren't working and issues he's having are not unknown. they have been seen and dealt with by alienware since the m15x came out so they have no excuse for sending out another notebook that has the SAME old problems. the supposed TESTING simply does not happen. If they would have turned his notebook on and TESTED sleep mode or the touch buttons (both known issues), they would have seen that they were minimally responsive.

200 point inspection... does that mean if it turns on it gets 100 pts and another 100 if the touchpad works?

Now, on the other hand, hey we're all humans, sh!t happens. Sometimes you miss something or are having a bad day and don't do as good of a job, so whatever. yea the stealth mode is just one small function of the entire notebook and the sleep issue was *supposed to be fixed*, could be OSD drivers or what not, but it remains clear that if AW truly tested these notebooks as vigorously as they profess, either a) their tests are no longer effective at diagnosing problems or b) they aren't being tested correctly. (or c the tests aren't actually being done).

    [begin frustrated consumer rant]

I sent my m15x back to be repaired and it very simply wasn't. nor was it TESTED.

I installed and ran 3dMark06 while on the phone with tech support to diagnose the problem. that same program was installed when I sent in the notebook, and still installed when I received it again.

If they would have taken the 10 seconds to double click that icon right on the desktop and another 5-10 min to let it run, they would have seen either a pitiful score or a BSOD and would have realized that their repair was unsuccessful and not have wasted time and money shipping it back to me...

It is simply obvious that there are at least a few AW employees who are letting things slip up and not giving the effort in QA/QC that they should. I choose to blame the management (not TS,CS or Roswell) for not finding those weak employees nor instilling a sense of company pride in their workforce.

Honestly, would an AW employee (who's job wasn't to browse these forums) that saw what is said about their company here honestly give a @#%$??
well, i have no hard feelings for that individual but the company should. here AW's word-of-mouth reputation gets lambasted daily and besides these 2 AW reps trying to clean up the mess, very little gets done to ameliorate these issues.

    with some luck, both of our issues will be solved soon and we can both go back to being happy consumers with functional products etc etc {insert happy capitalist ending here}

    [end rant]
