    Hi

I have a problem. I wanted to run some 3DMark06 benchmarks with 9.6 and so I killed some processes but than 3DMark06 didn't start benching and I had to reboot. I did so but than every 5-15sec after "back in Widnows" after booting I get this bluew screen :(

I have to say that I also did a big mistake ... I removed the battery during the m17 was running, I thought I switched it off (after 3DMark06 crashed) but it restarted ... and I just realiced it after a placed the m17 back on the cooler ... and than I was a bit shocked because I know how care you have to be with a notebook which is running.

    Did I kill my m17?

You probably haven't killed it, it seems like a software problem, not a hardware problem.

However, it may require a hard drive formatting and complete reinstallation of Windows and everything else.

I hope you had everything backed up.

I think that only means you kapoopoo'd your windows install. (but i'm not an expert.) I'd google what the error messages say to see if there's any solutions without having to reinstall windows.

Could be a disk error, run CHKDSK, also it could be very likely that you have a bad stick of RAM.

Try booting in safe mode first, to let it reset, then restart and see if it fixes itself. Otherwise its most likely you turned something off you weren't supposed to. As Evil said, its probably a software thing, not a hardware thing.

I'm pretty sure it's a hardware thing guys, if CHKDSK comes up ok, try taking one slot of ram out at a time and see if it boots up with only one or the other installed.

Also have you just installed any new drivers? driver errors are also known to bring up bad pool calls.

It is software related. This is a given because you said you booted up Vista without issues. Just try to boot up, then mash F8 (just after passing POST). You should be able to select last known good configuration (for XP), this should solve any problems you have. If it doesn't, then try to boot into safe mode and then re-enable all services you disabled. If you can't remember the exact ones, just enable them all.

says, and I quote: "This issue occurs because of a race condition.", say WHAT? haha anyway, i doubt you need the hotfix, its most likely just a software issue.

Ending programs and processes wont cause any BSOD's on boot since when you restart all those processes will start again. As for the battery i myself removed it a few times while the laptop was running so i doubt its that. Probably a software/hardware conflict. Hopefully it will start again normally on your next reboot.

I'd think that too. But, that's besides the point. I'd revert to the last known good configuration as said above. Maybe you could try booting it in safe mode and performing a system restore back to an older configuration?

It's not the "removing" it's more the "putting back on the cooler" ... like a smale "fall" that makes me think I killed it ...

I guess I'll have to do this :(

    LKGC WHAT? :D

On the dual boot screen I can select "Speicherüberprüfung" which sounds for me something like this disc check command I did in the dos box.

I am just runing this "tool".

    Greetings
    Julian

    1. See if you can get LKGC to fix the problem.
    2. If that doesn't work, do you have an XP CD? You might be able to boot from it and have it fix your problems.
    3. Try a system restore.
    4. Re-install, back up any data from safe mode if possible.

    ^Last Known Good Configuration
    http://www.geeksquadwiki.com/gsw/images/f/f4/Select_last_good.gif

Start by mashing F8 when your computer turns on (power on, NOT Windows start up) and don't stop until you get a screen that look similar to the one I linked.

Hm, since things are starting up before it suddenly pops the bsod try disable all your "extra" services and startup programs, since you can enter the save mode it seems its a driver/software issue. So start troubleshooting from the startup programs then to services then move to drivers. If you dont want to system restore that is.

Run CHKDSK and check your RAM modules to rule those two things out first.

I am not sure ... but I think no. The newest thing on my m17 is AA3. I installed it via Steam 2? days ago and have still problems plaing online :) but this is an other topic^^ or not? I mean ... AA3 is buggy like hell

    Greetings
    Julian

AHH may be it's this! I changed becaus of AA3 more than some times my extra LCDs and Mous / G15 from m17 to gaming rig and back.

But as I normaly do when I have a BOSD I removed all extra stuff (except of the LAN cable)

Usually (atleast in my case) for CHKDSK command to actually work you need to restart so it can do the job in dos before windows start since a lot of files are locked while you are in windows.

It could be the AA3, I have it installed on Vista with no problems at all, but I don't have it installed on Win7, and I'm not sure about its compatibility.

Hard to tell, obviously it's not likely but you never know, it is possible it could be his steam install of AA3 that is causing this problem.

Strange ... now I am on W7 again "normal" and no BOSD as long I do nothing^^

There is a window: Windows is running after rebooting "suddently".

And the Windows "Speicherdiagnose" said no problems -.-

Some accounts are missing but only on Steam and Skype, ICQ is running again ...

Hm I'll just run something to see wheather it fixed itselfe rolf

Yea, If its a "race" (lol) issue then it will probably stop by itself after 1 or 2 bsod's. After that point its probably something else.

Play a bit with it, do a few more restarts, if you dont get it again then its probably ok now.

    OMG

Because AA3 freezed every time I tryed to play online, I installed it on my gaming desktop and wow it worked there. (30-40 of all players have this frees problem^^).

So I decided to deinstall and reinstall it on the m17 and so I did.

The result was, you may know => the same bluescreen the next time I booted :(

This time I just ran the "HD Space check" (I don't know how to call it^^) via BIOS, because of dualboot I have a "special screen" where I can also use "this tool". After running it, no more blue screen, but as the first time, the tool found no errors ... strange^^

For me AA3 is the bad guy but may be it's something else and so I will note spam in every thread that AA3 is crap ;)
BTW I like that game
