I had a disc stuck in my M17X BD-RE drive, in windows no disc was detected in the drive so i wasent able to eject it. I disassembled the laptop to access the drive directly and was able to pop it out of the drive. Now im trying to determine if the drive is even salvegable as i upgraded to it myself and it is not covered under the dell warrenty. The problem is some mechanism that i assume is to prevent a disc from coming out of the drive when in use is stuck in the up position (picture below) and ideas on how i could try and fix it or do i just need to bite the bullet and buy a new one?

I'm guessing Darkhan would be able to help if he decides to pop in.

i guess your disk gets stuck because the chassis looks bent :)

put a dummy CD in the drive and reinstall the drive, and see if it recognizes it?

I have Optiarc BD drives on hand and could swap you one of those if you had Optiarc. But since its Panasonic I can not swap that out.

I am sorry I cant do more, you will most likely need to purchase another drive. or replace the original drive back until you get another BD drive?

I actually got it working again after taking Levenly's advice. i opened up the drive and stuck a blank DVD in it and reinstalled it in my system. When i booted to windows the blank DVD was detected and i was able to eject it. I'm guessing the disc i had in it got dislodged from the spinning mechanism partially and the drive didn't realize a disc was inserted.
