Economy must be hurting them. That laptop was very quick to come and leave the market. Something must be up with OCZ.
I think its the quality. No offense but after OCZ bought PC Power and cooling, I have noticed tremendous price cuts, and a very low quality product afterwards. I cant count how many people are looking for real pc power PSU's not the cheap OCZ rebrands

Not sure about the laptops, but OCZ must be having trouble

I never said the whitebook was bad, I was just reffering to OCZ dropping quality of their power supplies.
I just checked OCZ's site and it says that the product is no longer available.

there are no issues with the whitebook. a few of them had some cosmetic flaws but the units were now being inspected before shipping and they were not sending out anything that was flawed. the very early units had some paint issues. this was weeded out pretty fast though. check newegg they still have all of the diy ones for sale also

i just wish i knew what was going on. now politics come into place like E said, us AW user will proably play a premium for 4870's and other stuff....i just dont know whats going to happen the balance is upset. But AW needs to come out and say yes they will still be getting them and designing new things etc its what we all want to know

E said in the other thread that it wasn't OCZ's fault, but Flextronics', because they shipped OCZ loads of faulty/bad/damaged chassis.

I can honestly say that yes Aw will keep selling the M-17. I know the plans go way out this year at least. I work for the mother company of AW and confirmed this last night with a friend down in Miami. Looks Like I will be getting a funny alein head on mine since the others are gone. Trying to find out someone the new GPUs as well. I hope to hear something def today. As soon as I hear something I will let you know.

Currently there is no plan in removing this system, we will continue providing support for this machine. At the present time there is no information regarding future changes.

Well since they lowered the price on the M15-17x's, which means the eventual end of production for either the m9750 and them as well, this must mean something new is coming very soon.

Reading the other threads I have a feeling AW bought out the rights to this model leaving OCZ with their pants down. Since the model was spread all over the place it was canibalizing itself by competing against itself. You dont make money making a dozen different varities of the same thing, some sell better than other so why support the weaker seller.

Whatever happens can only mean that yes AW retains the Whitebook, and that something new is going to be coming very soon, since with the new Xfire and W7 and I7 chips demands a new model to house it all in.

Wow it just seems crazy to me to replace something so new! I mean shouldn't they replace the m15x first? I can see the whitebook going away but AW should stick with this for awhile if they can. HOpefully whatever they replace it with still has dual ati and quad core

ON that note I just ordered one of these (minus quad core) can't wait to compare it to my m15x and enjoy it.

AW Whitebook is not going away, all the other labels are. AW now has exclusive distribution of it.

And logical removal from production for AW would be the 8750, then the 15 and 17x. Im surprised the 9750 has hung in there that long.

yea but no matter what comes out...it will use the same chipset....so the m17 no matter what can use the same processors and same gpu's...if a new laptop comes out with the best of the best..like qx9300 and dual 4870's....well the m17 can do that also....so we still have the best...just a different looking case

very possible...especially since a qx9400 is coming out that may clock a little higher...but for gaming only....i dont see why anyone has to upgrade right away to the 4870's....no game needs it except crysis..and that game sucks on ati anyways so why upgrade so fast lol

If OCZ was the major distributor for the Whitebook and now they are cancelling it. That would leave all the other labels getting it through OCZ zip.

And if AW did a deal with with Arrima/Flex (The manufacturers) behind OCZ's back to continue it, then I would say simple math that they have exclusive rights.

Could be speculation but AW has stated they will still sell them.

AW already has an agreement with Flextronics directly. plus, AW's a "boutique brand" that won't sell simple barebones.

You can never tell, like I said Dell has the pockets to setup a distribution system. AW can run it, Its all about sales, it a product shows big promise and someone just bows out of the game for some reason, Dell can be there in a snap.

    But its all speculation.

My 2¢: The 4870s are NOT going to be the same price as the 3870s are. That just doesn't make any sense from a business standpoint. Especially now that AW has exclusive rights to the M17.

And unless there are huge changes to the new M17, our current M17 should accept all of the same hardware.

Just to reiterate, why would a notebook with a NEWER quad core, and a HIGHER series of GPU be the same cost?

Yes, the M17 is currently breaking the 17K barrier in 3DMark, but it's PURELY Epeen. There's not single person using their benchmark settings for everyday gaming use. E-Wrecked has even commented that some of his runs can't be duplicated. That's just not real world performance.

I don't really give a crap if the 4870s score 40K, because I'm over the Epeen bulls*it. I want to know what they'll score in an everyday use situation, not what they score with everything overclocked and the FSB all jacked up.

that's just for now. i'm fairly sure that some other company will take up OCZ's spot in the distribution chain, the W840 (can't call it Whitebook no more :D) is selling far too well to just give it up to AW.
