Hi, I have a M15x and there seems to be a problem with my display driver. I can't stream videos from websites in full screen, or else my screen will go black and will stay like that. Also, periodically, there will be times when my screen blink and will say "display driver has failed and has recovered." I'm a complete newbie when it comes to computers and would really appreciate any help I can get. Thank you.
I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 card
-
what driver version and what browser?
-
Internet Explorer.
Driver version = one that came with the laptop. According to device manager, it's version 8.763.0.0 -
so cat 10.8
i had the same issue with cat 10.8 try reinstalling flash player and repairing the driver if it does nothing you will need to wait for cat 10.10 -
hi man .
i think you have the ati 5850?
is a video card problem. i had the same problem.
did you tried run video mp4 in windows media player??? is the same error
i tried everithing, change windows version, drivers.. the solution call dell and ask for new video card.
sorry for my english -
the card might be faulty to but i sugest trying reparing the driver and reinstaling flash befor
(you could also try an other driver version i had to jump to 10.9 to fix it sadly 10.9 are not officialy out so they are a pain to use -
if it's happening in flash player (youtube etc..) try right clicking , configuration , and check disable hardware configuration I have a smaller laptop that only showed a white screen if I maximized a youtube video until I did that

dell changeme the videocard ati 5850
but dell relase a new upgrade Vbios for 5850}
Drivers and Downloads - Public Sector
This VBIOS is meant ONLY for the ATI Mobility Radeon HD5850 video card offered in the M15x. Flashing any other model cards will result in a no boot/POST and cards will need to be replaced.
1. Fixes display corruption issues found on some 5850 video cards -
same error to me
display driver has failed and has recovered. -
Have you tried the M15x forum? You might receive help more efficiently in the specific forum for your system, than posting in the general Alienware forum.
