Yes. Watch any unboxing videos on youtube and that's generally the first thing you see when they start opening things up.

I'm actually rather very satisfied with all that came with the notebook itself, contrary to my expectations...

My R4 I got Windows DVD, Resource DVD (drivers, manual documentation), a mouse pad.
My R3 got all of that and a hat! (which is still in the box) -
As stated before any documentation you want is on the CD or the Dell.com/support website.
Besides who reads the manual when you have this shiny laptop sitting there. Also the drivers on the CD will all be old anyway, so I always chunk out the CD -
I received a M18x R2 a week and a half ago and was surprised that I did not get a manual like I got with my M17x R2 a couple of years ago.

I think Dell have done away with the leather-look manual & Baseball cap - not sure about the mousepad that came along aswell but you should get resource discs (for what they are worth lol) and a OS disc to allow reinstall of windows...maybe some other stuff depending on your config. like Roxio Starter, webcam software, Cyberlink PowerDVD.....if the money saved goes towards better products etc, I'm all for it - if it's just been scrubbed to make a bit more money, that's a poor show.

I never got a mousepad TT_TT or a hat TT_TT...

My M14x arrived with a thick black cardboard envelope with a clear Alienware-logo'd plastic band holding it shut placed on top. It was the first thing I saw when I opened the box. Other than that, there was only a separate box for the power adaptor (and cord).
This was all that was inside;
Left to right:
1. Resource DVD (this will be specific to each machine/model)
2. Windows disc (for user's repair and reinstallation)
3. Quick Start Guide (in sealed plastic pouch)
4. Safety, Environmental and Regulatory Information booklet (also in sealed plastic pouch)
My order acknowledgement/order confirmation/invoice actually stated that an "Alienware placemat" should be present, and when I called regarding this, I was eventually told that this simply refers to the black envelop described above. How terribly misleading.
But yes, they have moved away from printed media and leather books (disappointingly), and I believe the full user's manual (which has disassembly instructions) is available online instead.
But since I downloaded all my drivers and relevant software in advance to a external hard disk, including manuals, this isn't really a problem to me. I mean, I really love seeing attention to detail and quality accessorization, but I suppose I can forgive it in this apparently eco-friendly day and age. But I seriously question the loss of the disassembly manual - everyone knows you can't access the internet on your notebook while you're tearing it apart.
Do Alienware Laptops come with printed documentation and windows DVD, Drivers DVD and/or recovery DVD?
