I am getting my M17X R1 replaced with a R2 after minimal discussion with Dell. I still have the original box for my R1 but I was wondering if they will send me the original box with the R2? I always like to have the complete package for all my gadgets and I don't know if I need to remind Dell to send me a new box. Thanks!

they will send you the new box with all the accessories that come with it.They will tell you to send the old pc back in the new box but since you still have the box for the r1 use that.

dwarf i think your sig is mistaken if you get the higher resolution screen in the R2 it is automatically the RGB LED not the dual CCFL

Well this is what my order confirmation is saying, but yaa I have been thinking about this too
Perhaps they have rigged a m17x R1 system screen and installed that one on my replacement as that was the screen on my m17x R1 system.

Guess that I will know it when it arrives :)

i see cutting a few corners since they are replacing your r1 with an r2 so they using some backup stock of the older r1, thats still better then getting a completely all r1 for replacement.

Ay, the R1 system I have is a true champion in the sport BSOD(blue screen of death) as well as latency and shutting down randomly(and that is after three motherboards and graphic cards has been tried out). I am longing for machine that is stable and works. It is almost like it is Christmas :) And may it be free of evil green goblins and quirks that could hurt its hardware so I can use it without any repairs at all :D

That's strange. My M17x R1 has that same screen and they were originally going to send me replacement R1. I checked the order and they were going to send a red one (which made me happy), with a WXGA (lower resolution) screen. I called and complained and they told me they no longer have those older screens in stock so they upgraded me to a R2 with the LED screen. It sux though because they are now sending a black one since that was the color I had originally.

When I got my replacement R2, it came in a new box, and I just had to ship the old one back in the old box.

Well if they give me a RGB LED screen then I will not complain. Anyway I have from the beginning been pointing out that the screen shall be 17in WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 - Beyond HD (1200p) - Dual CCFL as I paid for that quality in my broken R1 system. It looks like that they have plugged it on the R2 system(at least from what I can read in my order confirmation). It will arrive very soon and then this mystery shall be solved :)
