Hi everyone, I was wondering if alienware will upgrade your laptop. I am wondering because maybe in a bit I will want to upgrade. I know I can probably install a new cpu by my self and can easily upgrade the ram and harddrives. But will alienware do it if you send them your laptop? thank you.

It depends on your laptop / what you are installing. Most likely AW will install these items but for a heavy premium that you shouldn't be paying for. If you can you may as well install them yourself.

What laptop / specs / what do you want to upgrade to?

I have a m9750 and I have the very crapy cpu 1.66ghz. Eventually I want to upgrade that to something a lot more powerful and if possible add in another 8700gt for sli. thank you.

you can upgrade to the 2.0 or 2.13 Core 2 Duo but that is it for that laptop. You cannot upgrade to the newer processors, only to the ones in that series. And you can easily add in another daughter 8700GT.

For the 8700GT you will need to buy a "daughter" card and you will need the SLi bridge cable.

Aside from alienware, the only other place might be ebay, from someone who is selling them.

Don't buy the 2.33 it is way too expensive in my opinion. Unless the prices have fallen a lot the most I would say to go for is a 2.13

They will send you the part, I upgraded both my hard drives when one of my 160GB hard drive failed. But, if you are swaping out parts make sure you keep the tracking # from the return label otherwise they charge you for the part if the return site looses the part at their end after they signed for it. I had to dispute a charge on my credit card since they require your card # for a deposit if you don't return it.
