It looks like I'm getting an exchange for my M17x to anM17x-R2 with an I7920 proc and RGB LCD. With all the negativity recently, is there anyone who actually likes their systems in this configuration?

There's a lot to be excited about man, it's just the initial buzzkill people have experienced with the bios glitches. It's getting fixed now though, so if I were you i'd be stoked.

May I ask how you got your exchange? :D :D I'm looking to get one because my stupid HDD (not the HDD itself) is having problems writing and we've narrowed it down to the system hardware handling the information being sent.

Also, with an exchange, do they send you the laptop and THEN you send them yours?

In U.S they send the replacement for you first :)

But dont even think about keeping the defective one because they will put a hold on your credit card before shipping the new one :p

Usually the exchange process entails calling up the tech, tech is smart enough to agree with you and issues an exchange, I wait and wait and wait for the replacement system and then send back the deffective piece of junk in the same box that was sent with new system.

Yeah, well I've been through 2 motherboards, a daughterboard, one chassis, a fan, and 2 HDD's since last July on this machine o_O
And there is no credit card on my account hahaha, so they couldn't put a hold on it, but I always send it back in a timely manner.

Maybe they'll be nice enough to upgrade me to an R2...

I went the support site and they're not reporting ANY BIOS for the M17x-R2 right now. What BIOS are you using?

I really enjoy mine just waiting for the bios release. Its a good thing AW is working quickly to fix the issue or they would have had a boat load of returns LOL. And I also love this razer mamba as well

I have an advance copy of the bios that everyone will be receiving in about a week or two, check the dell website then. Don't worry though, this bios update fixes the flickering/throttling issues so it's the real deal.

Once the rest of us get ahold of the new bios we'll follow with the love.

I currently like my M17x. Massive performance increase over my Gateway. It was disappointing to have the flickering problem from the get go but, that's the risk you take from getting a refresh right away. ;)

I love mine. Other then the flicker, thanks Joker for being the point guard on getting that fixed, my only complaint so far is a weird under scan when I use 180P resolutions on my HDTV. I prefer 720 anyway (easier to read and SD content looks better blown up to 720 then it does to 180).

So your laptop is returned to you already? They updated a specific BIOS for you only or it has been officially released?

You guys know something I dont know?

Ahh so they did fix it, so you got the BIOS ahead of time? Nice, This board has almost been moving to fast to keep up with. Especially when you miss a day. This is good to hear, that they got the problem resolved.

Yep got it ahead of time but everyone else will have it soon enough.

So will all new and pending orders ship with the new BIOS, or should folks wait until the BIOS update is actually released on Dell's site, the latter being so you can be assured you can get your laptop in working order when it arrives.

Was this because of the stuttering issue? Or some other reason?

I'm calling in today and I'm going to try and get my stuttering R1 exchanged for an R2 or at least the ATI cards

Edit: by stuttering, yes I mean the DPC latency issue, not framerate drops while gaming

Originally, I was experiencing DPC latency and hard lock ups. I've received a dual ATI swap for my 280's and that solved a good amount of my latency problem. But, I'm still experiencing hard lock ups while just sitting on the desktop and some within games.

I would be amazed at Dell's customer service if they upgraded me to an R2.

But I have a 3 year warranty, so if the first three months is any indication there is a good chance I'll be given something else.

....Well I was on the phone with support and after about 2 hours of him uninstalling drivers and installing new ones (which didn't solve anything and even though I told him I'd already done all that he tried it anyways) he said he'd escalate the case to nvidia, call back in a few days......

I'd asked for either an R2 or ATI's but he said he didn't know what he could do for me and to wait and call again. Hopefully this means I'll get something when I call again.

VT or virtualization is uses to install others OS (operative systems) into the current one, so, you will be able to running Linux without go out from windows or install it in a disk partition, this is, at least for me, a good way to try differents OS .... Or virus, Trojans, etc ...

    Daniel,

ever have issues with your razer mamba and your M17x? I have both and the sensitivity stage-up/stage-down buttons trigger alienware command center, and the battery charge/disabled state. I'd like to know how you resolved that if you did. Running the latest firmware on the mamba.

I love this mouse and the only problem I had with the mouse was when I tried to install on my old laptop I couldn't get the configurator to show up but with this one everything went fine. I haven't had the problem with the stage up . But I think you can adjust through the configurator.
