Does anyone know where I can buy a 3870 for my m15x?

I'm in the UK. My 9800m GT stopped working completely and is now out of warranty and Alienware want GB£400 for a new one ... I'd rather go with the 3870 but they don't stock them anymore apparently. Any idea where I can buy one? I'd prefer not to buy one second hand if possible, but would consider it if that was the only option. Any ideas how much I should pay for a new one?

    Thanks

    Heyyy,

    Here's one for sale:

Appart from Dell/Alienware i really dont know who would be selling them as new also.

Your best bets for 2nd hand cards are ebay and the NBR Marketplace.

I've sold my 3870 master + slave as a set for £216 ...maybe you could use this as a guidence :).

    Good luck!

Thanks DHC. That's the only one on the NBR marketplace and there seems to be a lot of interest. Nothing on eBay either. Anyone want to sell me a 3870? lol

I have a couple month old GTX 260m for sale that I just removed from my laptop because I had upgrade to ATI 5870. I think it should work with your laptop because the 280m work on it. Pm me if you interest.

Hey btgman I'm going to refer you to this older post that someone was looking to do the same exact thing (on a m9750, same mxm type). My friends actually planning on going this route upgrading his 8700gt-SLI set with 3870-crossfire. Guy on that post paid $351.xx brand new straight from alienware let me know if you have the same luck :).

Thanks for the link - that's interesting. I called Alienware UK and asked them to install or even just sell me a single 3870 but they said it's not possible. I've called and emailed with the same request several times and they keep saying no ... Maybe they only offer this in the US?
