I just returned a 4 day old m15x because of throttling.

Now I have a m17x r2 on order and was wondering if it has the same problem..

Also does the 4870 have gddr5?

    Thanks
    AwHw

so you didn't test for throttling for game play. furmark and prime pushes your system way beyond any game or app in real life. I have an M15x and have yet to see any real throttling in games i play.

Throttles and/or flickers depending on the driver and game.

The screen size was kinda small for using AutoCAD as well. So I guess the combination of the throttling (future performance issues) and the smaller screen, is what made my decision to send it back.

I did test it running COD but an old version at max settings and it did not throttle.

you returned a system because it throttleing while you were playing furmark ?

The throttleing sucks but it is a preventive measure by Dell

ok the rgb is sweet, i gave you that. but if you want more info on the M17x r2 you'll have to wait another week or so because people just started receiving them, testing has just only begun.
