Theres a test in the m17x latency issue forum that if you run it can tell you about your dpc latency etc or not, the m17x suffers from abnormal spikes strangely.

downloaded as per instructions, ran the test and attached is the snipped image: since I am having problems with my wifi card connecting after sleep I would suspect it of being the one driver than causing concern: I'm also running the nVidia beta 195 driver and not the stock Dell one so that could also be it. Otherwise I would say there is no dpc latency issues by comparison with the M17 thread but will defer interpretation to those who asked for the information in the first place.

well that was easily diagnosed! disabled the IDT high definition audio Codec and the one red bar has disappeared. So I guess I will uninstall it and use the default win7 driver instead.
Simple fix: rolled back the driver to the default win7 driver instead of the Dell one and system functions fine and yellow bars across the board.

While that is better in some respects then the M17x, I would like to point out that it is no way comparable to a regular desktop or my wife's M15, the model before the M15x, she has the 8600GTX as her video card, her max DPC was 582. I've added screenshots of the two. Also, in regards to my 9400, I'm getting spikes, just not 16-60k at all, the highest being 6400.

Left is the desktop. Right is the m15.

I'd be curious to see how bad it is under Windows Vista. My DPC Latency issue isn't half as bad under Vista as it is under win 7.
